---
The rain pitter-pattered on the pavement, each drop running down to a collective stream of water flowing by, down the side of the street. You were standing under your own umbrella, on the edge of the sidewalk, just staring into the street. You don’t remember exactly what you were doing here or why you were here at all.
You stood exactly still, listening to all drops of rain that bounced on your umbrella and onto the floor. You felt like you weren’t really there… weren’t really in this world… in some sense. You assumed that there were probably other people walking around and cars driving on the street in front of you, but nothing. There was no one walking, no cars passing by. The world stood still as you did, other than the rain.
You didn’t know what to feel or expect here. You were kind of ready to just close your eyes to make it disappear. This must be a dream and it was time for you to wake up. It’s a nice “dream”, but it feels too empty now.
You take one more look around through the rain into the streets once more before you decide to close your eyes. But… you can’t close your eyes, not now.
Through the walls of rain droplets, you see something…a figure moving.
It moves just across the street from you. It’s a person with beautiful long, light green hair. This person wore all black with little checkers of white. They didn’t even have an umbrella, they must be getting completely soaked in this rain. You thought that maybe you could help this person before they catch a cold or something.
You shift your body, took one step and froze. This person was walking across the street, towards the sidewalk you stood on, but didn’t look at you. You saw a vague image of this person’s face. You recognize him….From where, you think. His face and his appearance just feel so familiar, like you should know him from somewhere. Somewhere…
You remain in a curious haze, trying your hardest to recall what you seemed to have forgotten. And before you know it, this man appears right in front of you. He stands there, clothes completely wet and dripping, but you only see up to his neck because your umbrella stood too low, hiding his face from you.
You wanted to lift your umbrella up to stare at his face and all his details. It might help trigger something in you that you’d remember him by. But before you lifted, he spoke.
Hello dear “-------“, it’s been such a short time that I’ve seen you, but I’ve missed you all the same each time I lay my eyes upon you.
With a sudden realization of his voice, you know. You know him, he’s ----.
Then an abrupt shaking fell upon your shoulder. You open your eyes. You lifted your head up from your arms that were crossed on top of a table.
Hey, it’s time to wake up, your break is almost over.
It was Sawa, your coworker. You awoke in the break room at your workplace, the café. What was that familiar feeling you have…something was interesting in your dream?…but you don’t seem to remember. You wonder if it was something important or not…
