I sat up, flicking the covers of my body and groaning as goosebumps prickled my skin. I was rather pleased to find that I'd thrown my clothing in approximately the same direction so I didn't have to creep around the room too much to get dressed.
I was pulling on my shoes when a pair of arms wrapped around my midsection and tugged me back onto the bed. "Leaving already?" Raven mumbled into my back.
My eyebrow curved up. "Uh. Yeah. Still got stuff to do tonight." Her arms squeezed tighter around me, and I sighed as I stared at my untied shoes.
Damn. So close.
"Liar," she accused. She wasn't wrong.
"Maybe, but it doesn't matter. I'm leaving." I removed her arms with more force than I intended.
She let the sheets fall to her waist as she sat up and stared at me. "Just gonna mark me up and walk out?" I expected there to be malice in her tone, but she was teasing. When I turned to examine her expression, she smiled tiredly and moved to get up.
I didn't respond. She wrapped herself in a blanket and followed me to the door, resting her head on the wall. Without thinking, my hands came up and combed through her hair, attempting to fix the mess I had made. After a minute, it became clear that it was unfixable and she was going to look like a lion until she dealt with it herself.
"Am I gonna see you again?" She murmured, her eyes half lidded.
I cracked a grin despite myself. "Well I am stalking you after all, aren't I?"
She giggled, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was one of the most adorable sounds in the entire world. "I'm counting on it."
I smiled at her, glad she wasn't putting up a fight or trying to convince me to stay, and backed out the door. I stood on the balcony a moment, simply staring at her tired face.
Yeah, I thought. I'll definitely see you again.
"What?" She asked. "Is there something wrong with my face?" Her hand came up to rub at her cheeks. "Do I have sleep lines?"
I hummed in amusement. "No, no you're fine... But, uh... I'm gonna go now."
"I figured." She smirked. "So why you still standing there?"
My mouth opened aimlessly. "Good question." I stepped back, my hips hitting the railing of the balcony. I leaned back, letting myself fall off the ledge partly to screw with her and partly because I wanted to show off.
And also because if I didn't force myself to leave right then, I would have torn that sheet right off her body and pushed her down again.
By the time I hit the ground, she was bent over the railing, one arm outstretched in a vain effort to catch me. Evidently the shock had woken her up a bit.
I stuck my tongue out. "It's just three stories, thief. Anyone can do it."
I heard her huff in annoyance as she flipped me off. "Fuck you," she called out.
"You already did," I yelled back, a smirk on my face.
"I hate you." She turned on her heels, flipped me off again over her shoulder, walked back inside, and slammed the door shut so hard it rattled the frame.
I chuckled for a second before remembering that I lied and didn't have anything else to do that night. My face fell almost immediately. I ran my hand through my hair, trying to straighten it out. Thankfully it was one of the few cooperative things in my life and it only took a minute before I looked presentable again.
I chewed on my bottom lip while I walked aimlessly down the street.
It's not like there's nothing I can do... I haven't checked on my boys lately... I could go see if Toka sent them my raven designs... See if they wanna wreck some havoc...
Another, darker voiced chimed in, or I could go back to the girl. She's hotter than fuck. Not to mention the way she--
I cut myself off before my mind wandered too far. On the bright side, I finally agreed with myself on something. She was hot, and I did want to go back.
Why don't you? The voice prodded.
"Yeah," I said out loud, attempting to clear my head of my competing thoughts. I threw myself onto a ladder and dragged myself up to the roof of what appeared to be another shitty apartment complex. "Let's go check on the boys."
The sun was beginning to rise, much to my annoyance. At least Dusty wouldn't complain about being woken up in the middle of the night again. He may have been talented, but he was truly the most annoying person I had ever met.
I frowned a little at the thought of seeing him again. I would much rather have stayed in bed with Raven.
"Ughhhh why do I do this."
Because you hate yourself, obviously. I nodded, agreeing with my demon yet again. "Who doesn't," I sighed offhandedly, squinting as I tried to figure out where the hell I was in comparison to Dusty's place.
