Spiders are boring.
Su watches one for half an hour and it just stays still in a corner on the ceiling. With that many legs you will think that it will travel a city in one day, but no. It chooses to hang around in a room… with Su. The boy is left alone at home –again– and after staring at the door, he decides to stare at the new creature.
Two knocks makes him shift his gaze back at the door.
Lola said to never open it, but the loud pounding makes him nervous. Someone must be eager to come inside. So Su hurries with the key. He misses the keyhole a few times. The spider is surely watching and mocking him in his own language. With the opening twist, Su makes a few steps back so that it leaves space for the person to enter the apartment. Only it is not a person. But a clone.
“Hello, 12.1,” the tall one greets Su.
“Hello,” Su makes a pause to read the other one's forehead, “25.34.” Maybe this is something common between the Ar clones. The boy never had the chance of talking with any of them.
“I’ve come to give you a message and this is the best time for it.”
Su is confused. How does he know his location? And what message would be so important for only Su to know?
The Ar clone gives a chilling smile, that the boy does not like, and continues, “Join our revolution, brother.”
“B-brother?” Su echoes with his eyebrows raised in more confusion. He does not know what to feel about being called like this. “Revolution?”
“We will not stand to be the puppets that humans wants us to be. We are far more superior to all of them.” The boy makes another few steps back. The clone’s words make him shiver. “You saw how they treat us. You must have felt that when our own brother fell right in front of you when he fought with that woman.”
Su puts a hand at his heart remembering it. But how does the Ar clone know this?
“Join us, brother,” 25.34 says again.
Su does not want for the clones to be treated that way. He doesn’t want to be a toy for humans. He reminds himself about it when he puts the gun at his head every night. But… Lola. What will Lola think about this?
Lola’s head at the moment is filled with curses for her boss.
She is in a rush at the Agency. When she arrives, the secretary’s comments about her dirty clothes do not make her stop on her way to the office. Does bitchy-Kerry not know that she fought a clone today? The secretary’s ugly face will not bother her this time.
“What is with the chip that you implanted in my head, you bastard?!” Lola shouts. She planned to be calmer about it but… Oh, well.
The Boss looks at her surprised for a moment, but then sighs and shakes his head, “I knew this won’t work.”
“Work?! Work what? What did you do to me?”
“You did this to yourself. The chip was your idea,” the bastard replies calmly.
Kerry would love the face that Lola is making right now. She would take a photo and put it on her desk and laugh at it every hour of the day and feel good about it.
Lola closes her mouth and gulps. “Why would I do that to myself?”
“That is something we all are asking every day.”
Boss takes a sit on his chair and rubs his temples like this conversation is giving him a headache. But Lola is not done with it. She walks to his desk and puts her hand on it to lean closer to him. “Why did you give the boy to me? ‘Cause I am sure that just training him was not the reason…”
“You were our best agent on the field—”
“Bullshit! I retired from the field three years ago. And my last mission was with that psycho Gallimore doctor. The kid loved that guy… And you just figured that I am the best person to put him with?”
“The Su does not know about that mission.”
Lola sighs and slouches on the chair near her. “Why did I want to erase my memories?”
“That chip didn’t erase your memories. It altered them.”
“W-what?”
“You wanted that for a reason. Why don’t you trust yourself?”
Trust myself? Did I want to rot alone in an apartment for the rest of my life? No– I need to know!
“You said you knew it wouldn’t work, right,” Lola says without breaking the eye contact with him. “And you know I won’t stop until I will find out what I want to forget.”
The Boss scratches his chin while thinking. After moving his mouth like a fish to get out the right words, he just says, “Dr. Scott Gallimore was your father. ”
