The Ice Queen

Chapter One

Chapter One

May 09, 2018

Lilith

People usually ask questions about me, but not to my face. “Why does she look so cold?” or “Does she even have friends?” People also say untrue things about me like “She’s a stuck up bitch!” or “If you look her straight in the eye then you’ll turn to ice.” The Ice Queen, they call me. I don’t blame them though, I set myself up for this life. The cold glares I give people constantly, my monotone voice, my emotionless face. Heck, if I was somebody else and look at myself I would think that too. I’ve been like this since I was in 8th grade. I’ve just got used to the whispering, or the rumors. I've learned throughout the years that people will talk about me and I just need to ignore them.

I quickly scribble the notes the teacher wrote on the board. I've learnt how to write fast cause my history teacher, Mrs.Franchester, doesn't give a damn about how slow kids write and erases the board before half of the kids finish writing. I also learnt that I should get on the teachers good side because if she really likes you she'll allow you to snap a picture of the notes with your phone. I usually do this when I simply feeling lazy and write them in my notebook later.

Just about when I've finished writing my notes Mrs.Fran started to erase the board. Groans could be heard all around the room and she simply shook her head. "It's not my fault you all haven't accommodated to my speed." she quickly glanced at me and smiled. "Take a look at Mrs.Harper, she've learned how to write quickly, isn't that right?" she walked over and stood next to me. "Yes.", I answered emotionlessly. murmurs about how I was a class pet was spread around the room as Mrs.Fran walked back to where she was, continuing the lesson.

The class bell rang, indicating that school is over. Kids started to shove things in their book bags and rush out of the classroom, wanting to get out of, and I quote, 'this hell hole.' I, on the other hand, enjoyed school and its subjects, history being one of my favorites. I usually take my time to pack my things because I like my backpack organized.

As I was putting in the last of my things a girl with silver eyes, chocolate skin with freckles dusted all over her face, and really kinky long hair walz over to my desk. I've seen her around school. Cheer caption. Popular to the student body. Messes around with girls and boys, I've even heard. Not that I know it's true though. "Hey Lilith, can I, may I, I mean so you can't use that can I joke, look at your notes. I didn't get to finish them and I don't really want to be a bother so-" I cut her off. "Yes." I stared at her blankly. Her eyes lit up. "Really?" she asked, not believing what I said, which is really stupid of her. I went into my navy blue backpack and grabbed my notebook and a bookmark with gray cats plastered all over it. I flipped to the page my book was in and put my bookmark in there. I closed it and handed it to her. "Only look at that page and give it to me by tomorrow.", I instructed her. She stared at me as I quickly finished packing my things. When I was done I gave her a quizzical look and raised an eyebrow. "Is there anything else you need?", I asked, getting annoyed by her staring. "No it's just," she paused for a bit, biting her lip, "thank you, I really appreciate it!", she said warmly. She flashed a quick smile and skipped out of the room, giving me a small wave on the way out.

What? Did she just, thank me? I sat there confused. Nobody in this school as thank me, let alone be that kind. After a while of sitting there like an idiot I shot up, slung my backpack over my shoulders and walked out of the school.

"Mom! Lisa! I'm home!" I yelled, knowing my mom and her girlfriend are smooching upstairs. I heard footsteps coming downstairs. My mom was the first to get downstairs, enfuginh me in a tight hug. "Sweetie, welcome home!" she sang. I squirmed as she held me tighter. "Megan, let go of the girl you're killing her. Samatha, your big sis is home!" Lisa said while walking down. My mom loosen her grip and pouted. "What! I'm not killing her, tell her I'm not killing you Lilly!" my mom whined like a 5 year old. I just shook my head. I heard little footsteps run down the stairs and my four year old little sister, Samatha jumped on me. "Lilly Lilly Lilly!" she chirped. "Sam Sam Sam!" I chirped back. We usually greet each other like this. She let go and spun her flury pastel pink dress. "Mommy help me make it!" she said. "We made one for you too!" I smiled. Sam has a love for designing clothes and dresses. She and mom could make a whole fashion line if they wanted to. "Really? I can't wait to try it on!" She grabbed my hand and dragged me upstairs. She led me to her room and pointed at a navy blue gowned. "Look!" she squealed. "It fits you perfectly!" I just shook my head playfully. I grabbed the beautiful dress and walked to my room.

I tried the dress on and did a little spin in it. I looked like a princess in this dress. Just add some nice black heels and a crystal tiara- "Lilly, can I come in? I wanna see you!" my sister screamed, interrupting my thoughts. "Yes come in!" I answered.  She and my mom walked in a gasped. "Is that really my Lilith?" my mom asked playfully. "Princess Lilly the first." my sister exclaimed, pointing her index finger up. Lisa walked in a nodded. "All we need is a ball and a handsome prince, or a beautiful queen." she said, waltzing over next to me. "I'll be your fairy godmother!" she added, giving me a hug. I just smiled. I always feel safe and loved at my home. If I could, I'll stay home all day long. No rumors. No hatred. No ice queen.

After the whole fashion show, as I like to call it, I change into a baggy shirt with pusheen printed on it and some black shorts. I sat down at my desk and started with my homework. After a while my phone rang. I picked it up and looked at the caller ID. Unknown. A unknown number. I hesitantly picked it up. "Hello." I said emotionlessly. "Hey! Its me, the girl you lend your notes to!" the person on the other end said. "How did you get my number?" I asked. "You wrote it on the back of your notebook, saying if its losted, call this number and return it." the girl said. I completely forgotten about that. I let out a airy sigh. "Why are you calling me? I don't even know your name." I said coldly. "Hmm funny, we're in a class together. I would of thought you known my name. Well it's Jasmine, but you can call me Jazzy, or J, or-" I cut her off. "If you don't have any business with me please don't call this phone." I said, glaring even though I know she wouldn't see me. "Heh, I just wanted to say thank you again and goodnight! Sleep tight! Don't let the bed bugs bite!" she chirped before hanging up. I put my phone down.

What is up with this girl? Why is she so nice? Is this some sort of prank? I rested my head on my head and sighed. I looked at the time. 9:46. I still had a little more homework to do before I was done. I yawned and stretched my arms. Might as well hurry up and finish before I go to bed. Maybe I'll watch some anime before I sleep. Yeah, just one episode of citrus and I'll sleep. Get my mind off that girl.

Ten episode later, I decide I should really catch some Z's. I get into my comfy bed. I lay there, not tired. I look at the time. 12:39. WHY AM I NOT TIRED? I usually get tired after watching some anime. My thoughts drift to that girl. Jasmine, I think her name was. She has been so kind to me today. I wonder why? A dare maybe? Did she feel sorry for me? Most importantly, why did I lend her those note? Why did I continue to talk to her even though I knew it was her? I shook my head. I need to stop thinking about her.

I turned my head and looked at my pusheen figure. I felt my eyes getting heavier by the second. I slowly drifted to sleep with my thoughts jumbled everywhere. But the one that stood out to all of them where thoughts about Jasmine.

I really need to stop thinking about that girl.
