The legions flooded through the hole in the wall and started obliterating everything in their path, where were the reinforcements I asked myself. I was about to try and get up when I hear a crack and the tower starts leaning, some of the enemy soldiers broke the support beams of the watchtower. Then, another crack was heard before the tower crashed into the pavement.
I couldn’t move my body, the roof of the watchtower fell unto me and enclosed me. From within, the battle cries of the legions were audible. There were more crashes and soon, it fell quiet. I used all my might to try and break a hole through the roof as I didn’t want to suffocate to death, I hit and I kicked until a small hole appeared.
That was the limit of my strength though, after falling from the tower I can’t do much more. I passed out. I awoke later on top of a hay cart, I immediately got up and saw that my hands were shackled. I turn around and ask the person driving the cart where I was and why I was shackled, they were surprised I woke up so soon.
The driver introduced himself as Fernontas, the bringer of the dead and that he was bringing me to purgatory to be judged. I asked him whether I was dead or not and he told me to choose. He said that if I were to come back to life, I would be stuck under the rubble of the watch tower in critical condition only to die if I remained there or to accept the situation and go to purgatory now.
I calmly ask Fernontas about what happened while I was passed out, he said that the Thetikos claimed the castle of Gi and that their territory increased. They were now cleaning up the rubble to rebuild Gi as one of their capitals. I ask him who the man on the golden horse was and he said that his name was Thysia.
My last question to him was if I came back to life and managed to escape the watchtower, where would be the best place to go. Fernontas told me that the closest Vydelgyma capital was either Arches or Petra triadas. I don’t know what or where both of those are, but I didn’t think of that as important at the moment. I told him to bring me back to life.
I woke up again, under the watchtower, in Gi, within the Thetikos Territory. I try to lift the watchtower off of me, but it didn’t do anything. I try to punch it, but I quickly stopped as I heard a guard roam around. I stay as quiet as possible and conserve my remaining energy. Once I couldn’t hear the guard anymore, I attempted to lift the roof again.
It was moving, I couldn’t give up then. I put even more of my energy and strength into my arms and legs and managed to lift the roof off of me, now I ran out of adrenaline and I was still within the citadel of Gi. First I need to find food, water and a vehicle. I needed to recover as I am still in a critical state, I looked around and waited for the guards to walk past me as I hid.
I memorized the pattern in which they patrol and wait for my next chance to escape through the hole in the wall, after 2 minutes I left the citadel and am now in the town which is devastated. To think I just arrived here a day ago, now I’m having second thoughts about going back home. I might need to steal some food or some water from the town…
That is… If there is anything left, I need it soon or else my fatigue will overcome me. I searched the rubble of the houses for any water or food, all I’ve found so far was an empty bucket and a slice of bread. I need more, I also need a vehicle. I snuck through the town, scavenging the rubble until I see myself at a half-demolished well. I drank some water with the bucket I got earlier, but got disrupted by a guard who followed me here. I was in no condition to fight and so I stopped to think.
