Danae's first conscious thought was, “Oh gods...”
Everrin. The existing, living universe stood before him. New-born stars sparked to life, burning precious gases in order to grow and thrive. Dust clouds and rocks clashed together, forming the foundations of planets. Ready-made galaxies span beautifully in the distance. Atoms with unlimited potential created within seconds...
“What have I done...” he laughed to himself.
He turned around, and standing there were two others admiring the universe. Two whom Danae had only briefly conversed with before when their two psuedo-realms passed closely once. Zade, the black and white goddess who apparently represented duality. Her simple appearance masked the true complexity of her mind and her blank expressions hid her thoughts.
She stood tall and regal, but when she turned to Danae, arms crossed, she did not look down on him as a lesser being. And damn right she shouldn't.
The other, Farjack, was a farm more simple-minded fellow. He appeared powerful and strong, but what came out of his mouth was usually garble.
“Right! Party time?!” Farjack yelled, as if on cue breaking the surreal mood. He turned to see Danae and Zade staring at him, an aura of confusion on their emotionless faces. “What?” he asked disappointedly. “It was just a suggestion...”
The two said nothing, just glanced at each other and then back to him.
“Fine...” he sighed. His voice was loud even when whispered. It hurt Danae's skull.
A few seconds passed. “What do you want to do?” Farjack conceded.
Danae turned to face a section of space filled only with a vast emptiness.
“I want a home sweet home.”
He held out his hands slightly apart from each other and began spinning magic between them, the power condensing together to form a crackling spherical orb of power. He knew the two were watching. Zade with curiosity and Farjack with speechless awe, his jaw probably having dropped behind that helmet.
Danae forced more magic into the orb, expanding it until it grew to fill a large portion of the space before him. This took a toll on his strength but he contained it waiting for the magic to calm before diving back in. The empty space inside the orb filled with molten lava and mountainous plains of crimson rock. The surface area then solidified into a shell of cave systems and caverns.
Exhausted, Danae panted for a second, recovering quickly and hoping no one saw that. “A place to store all the cool stuff I will get in this universe.” To create something from nothing sure took an incredible amount of energy.
Zade tutted from behind him and glided forward facing another section of the empty space. She replicated Danae's movements in a more fluid and elegant manner. Danae tried not to punch her.
A cloud of calm purple magic formed and filled the space before her, taking on a more fog-like atmosphere – amateur – and inside she created floating islands of various sizes – cute – covered in strands of monochrome grass. In the middle she carved a larger island and covered it in meadows – boring – of black and white flowers. In the very centre she planted a black and white sapling and watered it with a drop of her soul.
“Interesting,” she said as she finished, barely showing any sign of the exhaustion that Danae knew was affecting her. “Yes, that is quite satisfying.”
“Not to shabby but you need to work on your landforms dear,” he jested.
She nodded. Danae wasn't sure if she was agreeing with him or ignoring him.
“What do you think Farjack?” she asked.
Farjack just floated, staring in amazement. Over the millennia many theories have arisen around the gods frozen and shocked state. The Cult of Swvi from the planet Dero concluded that their micro-fly god, Swvijevkino, had snuck up Farjack's nose and poisoned his brain causing a temporary state of paralysis. They also believed that this event created a domino effect that ended in the creation of the Swvi delicacy 'Swviss Cheese'.
Another theory from the Jorganorjv mages, who follow the teachings of a prophet who claims to have been touched by the cursed hand of the Death God, was that Danae knew Farjack was about to do or say something incredibly stupid and had erased the thought from his head.
The reality of the situation however was that Farjack was so deep in contemplation of how awesome he was that from the strain he briefly forgot how to talk, move, and listen.
Suddenly echoing in the far distance, came a faint scream.
