I got up so early the next morning and my dog, Maya and I went for a walk in the park.

Maya was a chihuahua, she was black with light brown markings on her chest.

When we came home, I texted my friends.

sushilover123: Are you excited about today's lesson?

pandagurl: Yeah!

chihuahualover342: Me too!

pinkgirl: Yes!

cupcakegirl: And me!

When we got into the litearture club center, there were 4 new girls.

"Hi,"I said, smiling.

"Who are you?"one of the girls said in a snooty tone.

"I'm Eliza, these are my friends, Misty, Ursa, Olive and Primrose, and who are you, girls?"I replied

"I'm Ava, these are my friends, Jasmine, Elise, Jewel and Esmeralda and we think we are gonna win the competition."the girl said.

"What competition?"I asked.

"It's a poetry competition,"Ava said, "and we are gonna win it, do you know what the prizes are?"

"I dunno,"I replied.

"In 1st place, it's 2000 dollars, in 2nd place, it's a book about how to do poetry and in 3rd place, it's a book with poems and the competition starts in 10 days,"Ava said.

I was so nervous! It starts in 10 days, I have to call my friends to my house after the lesson!

We picked a word from the hat.

I got the word "gems", Misty got the word "egg", Ursa got the word "grape", Olive got the word "rose, Primrose got the word "zebra", Ava got the word "bear", Jasmine got the word "dolphins", Elise got the word "raccoon", Jewel got the word "daisies" and Esmeralda got the word "doberman".

This is what I wrote:

Gems are beautiful

They shine at daytime and nighttime

I love them so much

Eggs are delicious

They come from healthy chickens

I eat them a lot

So juicy and very sweet

And also sticky

We got to name our group, ours were The Haiku Girls and the rivals were The Poetry Girls.

We all got A pluses and The Poetry Girls got B pluses which they were disappointed.

After the lesson, I called my friends to come to my house and told them to bring their pets and ask their mums for permission and all my friends' mums said yes including to bring their pets.

We had a snack which is strawberry shortcake with ice-cream on the top, I had strawberry, Olive got chocolate, Primrose got mint choc, Ursa got cherry and Misty got Neapolitan.

We then pick out a random word from a hat by my mum and we thought about some examples

I got the word "moon", Misty got the word "green", Olive got the word "beach", Ursa got the word "grey" and Primrose got the word "ladybug".

We spent an hour thinking some examples.

I also tried getting some examples from my laptop which was useful.

We found some which was good and we were satisfied.
