This was an assignment for class. We had a week to write an Elizabethan styled sonnet. Since it was in February the teacher made the topic of the sonnet we had to create about love. Since I already had a story I made up in head and I don't like the month of February overall I made "Stone Hearts". I didn't like the end result because some the story was lost to make the poem fit the requirements of an Elizabethan Sonnet. I might redo this one in the future.
Two lovers everyone misunderstands
One with a heart of glass the other gold
A princess and a farmer from far lands
Love that was doomed fated was long foretold.
They loved each other deeply and dearly
Their families disapproved, vultures flown
They were separated by them sadly
The lovers’ broken hearts turned into stone
Blank faces and empty eyes with they greet
Dulled emotions only be expressed starts
But years later lovers would again meet
With an embrace all the stone left their hearts
Stone still in, immortalized in granite
Effect so terrible no one plan it.
