“Are we there yet?” I asked Kolt.
We’d left the hotel right after training. Kolt had said something about knowing were to look for clues, but know it seemed he didn’t know were the hell he was going. We’d walked all over downtown Atlanta for hours, only stopping for food and to take a quick bathroom break. It already turned dark and I was sick of this crap.
“Do you even know where the hell your going?!” I asked.
Kolt turned his head towards me and said, “Nope.”
I was stunned. A little by the fact he gave me a straight answer, but more by the fact he didn’t know were the hell he was going. My faith in him had quickly sunken deeper down the hole.
He saw my face and tried to explain...
“The place we’re looking for is extremely hard to find.”
“How do you know where to look?” I asked.
“My instincts.”
“Fuck.”
Just then, Kolt stopped walking and quickly turned down an alleyway next to us. I followed after him, running, trying hard not to lose him. He stopped in front of a descending stairwell. Once I get there I could see was it led to. A painted black door sat at the end of the stairwell, covered in scratch marks.
“Let me guess. This is where we need to be?” I asked scarasticlly.
“Yep.” Kolt said before proccding down the stairwell.
“Great. A dark creepy stairwell, with a dark creepy door covered in scratch marks just screams safe.” I said it myself before following him down.
Once down, Kolt opened the door. Inside, was just your typical underground bar, with a dark and moody atmosphere, and classical music in the back ground. I counted six people in the bar with us—four at a table, one at the bar, and the bartender.
Kolt took a seat at the bar, and I took a seat next to him. I look around amd noticed that the other man at the bar was staring at us from the end of bar creepily. The four men at the table were as well.
“How may I help you fine young men?” asked the bartender.
The bartender was vary skinny, and had dark eyes that almost looked like black holes. It made me feel like he was trying to suck my soul out of my body.
Kolt started talking...
“I’m looking for some info. About the bastured who killed my girlfriend.”
The bartender scoffed. “Then why don’t you go to the police.”
Kolt laughed dryly. “Yeah maybe, but how to you tell the officer that your girlfriend was killed by a seven foot Monster without lookin’ crazy?”
Just as he finished, the bartender’s skin rips open, revealing the Monster underneath. Just as he did, so did the four other men at the table. All of them were the same type of Monster that tried to kill me—Ogers
My jaw dropped.
“This was a Monster bar!” I yelled at Kolt looking for answers.
“Yeah, that’s what this place is so hard to find, they have this dimensional travel spell that moves it form place to place.” He explained.
Just as he explained, the four other monsters circle behind us, blocking our path to escape. All of them ready to strike at us.
“Did you really think we would’nt smell you out, Seeker?” The bartender asked.
“No, but you were dumb enough to lock the door.” Kolt said.
“How are we dumb? Once we’re done with you, you’ll beg us to put you out of your misery bitch.”
“Tough talk will get you know where.”
Kolt raised his right hand and yelled, “Hsalf!”, engulfing the whole room in a white light.
I took that as our cue, and had the foresight to cover my eyes. Leaping from my chair, I run past the four Ogres, then turn around to fire a fireball to their backs. The explosion caused by it knocked two of them at the bartender, and the other two to the side. Kolt prepares his rings of light, and tosses one at the Oger closer to the door lobbing his head off. He then turns his attention to the Ogre that landed at his feet.
The bartender gets up, pushing the other two Ogers on top of him off. He sees me, and charges straight towards me. I fire a volley of fireballs at him, pushing him away. Fireball, after fireball, he gets pushed back another foot, but soon he starts to fight his way towards me.
I fire more fireballs at him, but they seem to have lost their affect. He gets closer and closer, and I’m running out of options as to what to do. Once he was close enough, he took one of his big arms and lifts it in the air, ready to swing at me. “This is it.” I thought, think that this would be the end of me.
However, luck happened to be on my side this time, and Kolt tossed three rings of light at the bartender, sliceing him into pieces. Blood poured out of him, and splattered all over me. I looked like I came out of a meat grinder.
With the danger gone I look around at the destroyed bar. Half of the bar was on fire thanks to me, and the rest was covered in blood thanks to Kolt. It could have been much worse.
Kolt marched towards me and grabbed me by the collar.
“What the hell was that?” He yelled, “How could you let that Oger get the better of you?”
I couldn’t speak. I was still in shock at what happened.
“Look,” He let go of my collar, “I didn’t teach you magic to blow shit up, but to kill Monster!”
“Don’t be so hard in the kid, Kolt.” a voice said.
We look in the direction of the voice to see where it came from. At the end of the bar, was the man who I saw as we came in, still sitting at the bar. He wore a green coat and hat, and had shaggy beard.
“Master?” Kolt said.
“Master?” I repeated confused.
The man got out of his seat, and smiled at us, letting us know he wasn’t a threat.
“Good to see ya, punk.”
