I don’t remember what time of day it was, but it was definitely light outside. I was standing outside of a giant water tank, viewing into an alligator display. There was a lady in there with a single alligator. I think she was trying her best to tame the alligator or entertain the zoo guests.
The lady was using a thick-clothed net to protect herself. She was at this for several minutes with little to no progress. The alligator was neither amused nor wanting to obey the lady.
But after a few more taming attempts, the lady’s niece came into the setting. I believe that her niece came in to replace her aunt to continue the taming job. However, right when the lady turned her back towards the alligator to give her niece the protective net, the alligator charged in and bit onto the niece’s leg.
The alligator chomped and pulled. Plenty of skin flesh was torn off, but it wasn’t a serious enough bite to rip off her whole lower leg.
The alligator pulled back a few feet away from the incident. Then something bizarre happened. The alligator began to twitch violently and started to change in shape and size. The alligator stood on two legs and its body rose to an upright position. It shifted into something human-like and resembled of a zombie-like creature in the most decaying/grotesque features.
This was in no way a time to stand still, so the two of them ran out of the display and I did the same and ran. Nearing the entrance gate, all three of us met up and noticed that to close the main gates, someone would have to make it to the main control room to access it. Disregarding her injured leg and powering through, the niece decided to be the one to make her way to the control room. We didn’t have time to argue, so I quickly ran back into the zoo to distract the creatures while she attempted to close the main gates.
My distraction was good enough to give the niece the time she needed to begin closing the main gates. We all hurried to the gates, making it through without letting any one of those creatures out along with us.
We continued to travel as far as we could away from the infested zoo. There must have been something seriously going on because we traveled for miles and we did not encounter any other human beings.
We went on for about another 30 minutes and finally ran into a large group of people. The three of us joined their group. Strangely enough, we didn’t exchange any conversation, but it wasn’t weird at all… for some reason. We traveled over hills together, however on one of these hills, I turned around to look at all the other people, but no one was there. Everyone disappeared. They just vanished.
I look around in desperation and notice just one person. It was a guy that was part of the large group. Looking in more detail, it was Eren (at this point, I was not exactly myself. I was Mikasa, but that wasn’t something I realized in the moment).
The two of us grouped up together and kept wandering around, unsure of what we were looking for.
Then a loud scream broke through our attention and we both turned. Two small titans stood chowing down on a person about 100 meters away. There was red blood all over those titans and before we could begin to run, the two of them noticed us and stepped forward towards us.
Eren and I were unable to fight because we did not have any of own gear, so we turned and ran as fast as our legs could take us. We both knew that it would be impossible for us to outrun those titans, but we hoped for any kind of shelter to appear for us.
Running. We kept running.
No shelter. No cover. There wasn’t anything. It was plain fields in all directions, not even a tree in sight.
Constantly too busy in my mind running through options and escape routes, I heard a crunch and an agonizing scream.
This is where I also made my mistake.
I stopped in my tracks and turned around to hope that Eren was okay.
I turned, getting only got a glimpse of Eren’s legs being torn off from the rest of his body before the other titan lounged at me, mouth wide open… and that was it.
