I remember the day clearly, and I will never forget it. My name is Conner and this is a story of how I escaped my fears and secrets I tried to avoid.
It all started when I was little my mom died of a car accident which left me with my dad. He's a great dad and I know he tries his best to take care of me, so I do my best to show him I appreciate it.
One night he was buying some groceries and on his walk home he was murdered. Some guys shot him and everyone heard, especially me. I run outside and I found him all bloody and I called the police. In a few minutes the ambulance and the cops were everywhere. I didn't know what I was gonna do, I got mad and blamed it on the people who killed him. I even tried to find some clues to where they might be, but I tried that twice and some cop told me, "Say outta this kid, this is a job for professionals."
The next day, I got a letter for an orphanage home and I had watched enough movies to know what they do to you in an orphanage home. It looked like I didn't have a choice so the day I decided to run away.
I packed my bag with some books, snacks, my phone and earphones, and a pocket knife. I also packed a suit case full of food, water bottles and clean clothes. I was ready, I packed everything I needed (including protection) and clean clothes.
I was thinking of going on a plane. But what if they pat me down because of my pocket knife?, I thought.
I would have to do something about the pocket knife. Today is the day I'm gonna run away, someone knocked on the door, it was the police.
I ran out the back door running not knowing where I was heading to, but where ever it was, It was freedom!
