She wouldn’t do it. Victoria couldn’t write otherwise. Victoria clenched her fist at the reply she made and slammed it on the table. She felt so…angry. For some reason she was angry. Angry at herself, angry at Wolf, angry at this whole situation with her character.
She felt so helpless right now, even if she had the undeniable ability to kill them all and end the thread. She had the ability to stop it, she knew that Volt had that ability, but she wouldn’t do it. She deleted and tried to write it out, but it came to the same conclusion no matter how many times she tried.
5 minutes had passed trying to write the scenario down,
Then 10 minutes and still nothing could get her to move,
Then 15 minutes, and still nothing.
At 20 minutes Victoria then just stopped trying. She rubbed her forehead as this was giving her a headache. She felt the need to scream or to vent her anger. She was rather angry.
Angry at Wolf, but more importantly.
Angry at Volt.
“Just…Why?” She mumbled, then sitting up and staring at the empty text box.
“Why won’t you let me…?” She asked no one, at least no one physically. Victoria was so angry, yet she felt so helpless given the situation. She knew a way out, but Victoria knew Volt wouldn’t do it. She already tried many times to reason but it just didn’t work.
She wanted to do it, to end the thread that Wolf was making her do. But she couldn’t, she couldn’t write it.
She heard the ping but she didn’t want to look. A second then came, then a third. Angry she already was, now she was extremely annoyed by the man that put her in this situation. She looked at the chatbox that popped up and just typed.
| VTesla26: Wolf you son of a bitch if you lay a finger on her I am hunting you down personally you hear me. I am going to fucking kill you. |
After she sent the message she noticed something different about the chatbox, she realized that it wasn’t Wolf she just shouted at.
| AquillaTheProf: …I don’t know if I should file as a warning. I am concerned now. |
Victoria stared at the reply, then she stared at the sender. Wide eyed she began to type.
| VTesla26: Aquilla? Where’s Jake? |
| AquillaTheProf: He went out for errands, though left a lengthy message detailing something about Volt. I had a class to attend to so wasn’t able to read it very clearly.
Anyway, more important situation. What’s going on with Wolf exactly? Why do you want to kill him? Last I heard he asked for an event thread which I gave the go ahead. |
Victoria paused, then she rubbed her forehead. Apparently, Aquilla did not know what Wolf was doing yet he authorized such. That made her somewhat angry at him too, but she kept a lid on her emotions in case she started shouting at a café of all places.
Calmly, or as calmly as she could, she typed back to Aquilla.
| VTesla26: That event thread involved Volt. It’s about the betrayals that you planned. He set it up so that Volt would fail.
He broadcasted her background story to the whole of Los Angeles, he is trying to make her a villain without my consent on the matter.
He’s forcing Volt. |
| AquillaTheProf: Isn’t that part of the plan though? Albeit minus the forcing and all. |
| VTesla26: Aquilla I don’t want this. I don’t want him trampling over my character. |
| AquillaTheProf: O…kay. Again, the plan though. We need it. |
| VTesla26: Aquilla, can you stop him? Please. |
Was he with her, or against her...
| AquillaTheProf: ...I will sure. Just hang on. |
| VTesla26: Thank you. |
Victoria sighed in relief. She was glad that Aquilla had decided to help her. She had figured he had helped Wolf set this up, but it seemed the blame was to the man itself who was possibly in trouble. Even if Wolf was a moderator who had a job he did not seem the type to disobey Aquilla or Jake when they asked him to stop, especially when they put their foot down.
Relieved she decided to stretch and walk around a bit. The situation really did put a strain on Victoria, she then realized how parched her lips were and how hungry she was. She made a beeline to the counter, not really caring about the price she decided that some sweet iced tea and a bagel would be enough.
“One bagel, and one of your sweet iced tea. The large size.” She told the counter person.
“Sure thing. Must have been pretty stressful.” He told her, Victoria looked at him and took some time to process.
“…Err…sorta.” She told him as he passed on the receipt and headed for the pick-up counter immediately. She pondered on the question though.
Why was she exactly stressed out earlier? Well Wolf was infringing on her, and Volt was not responding, but why was she mad? If she thought about it, technically he was following the plan they established. Albeit it would had been nice if he had messaged her the plan or coordinated.
However, that too felt wrong. To her, it felt wrong for him, or even her, to do such a thing to Volt, to plan for her downfall. She wondered why as she got the tray from the pickup counter and she headed back to her seat. She wondered why exactly it felt wrong. Why was it wrong for them to make Volt a villain? It was part of the greater plan, but why did she feel unsettled by it earlier? She paused to think about the question, to look at what she felt. She had realized something.
…It was guilt. For some reason…she felt guilty about making Volt a villain.
Ping.
Snapping out she checked to see if it was Aquilla who messaged, or maybe even Wolf who she would give a piece of her mind to. It was neither.
| Sarararah2000: I saw the thread oh no! I don’t know if I can but can Kagerou help??? |
Victoria frowned. She took a sip of tea and took a bite from her bagel before replying.
| VTesla26: It’s fine. The thread is being stopped. It might get reconned even. |
| Sarararah2000: Oh phew! Okay then! But that’s so sad huhu, having that happen. Does that mean we won’t go to New York anymore??? |
Victoria paused.
| VTesla26: Go to New York? |
| Sarararah2000: Yah!!! Did you not see my reply? |
Victoria decided to check, lo and behold one of the notifications was for the old thread. She had forgotten about it at the heat of the moment with Wolf. She decided to read the reply.
Sarararah2000 (8:18 PM)
Kagerou looked at her friend, slowly a smile formed on her face. She approached and placed a hand on Volt’s back.
“Volchu…Maybe it was your fault, but we all make mistakes at our first time. We all make errors.” She told Volt to reassure her.
“And…bad past or no bad past, look at where you are now. Sure…there was bad things that happened, but look at what you’re doing now.” She told Volt.
“You are being a hero to the people. You are protecting them. And you have friends too! Adi, Maeve, me! You also have a daughter now! Adopted daughter but still!
Compared to before, you are a whole lot different!” Kagerou says.
“It’s not always about the past right? We have the present that exists, and the present says that you’ve been a good girl. You’re helping people, and you’re protecting them. And you’re kinder now, you’re quite motherly too.” She says with a smile. She thought about what she’ll say next…
She looked to the distance, to the past.
“…I remember back then when you brooded a lot and you skulked about. You pushed everyone away and honestly you were super rude. And…it’s understandable given what you told me. I really wanted to help you, and I tried my best!” She told Volt “And I thought I wouldn’t make it but look at you now! You changed! You took the step instead of skulking about doing nothing! If you were so set on being moody, then you wouldn’t have taken Merlin’s request right? You wouldn’t have talked to me! Or ignored me every time I approached!
But you did take the step, and now you’re here! Look at how far you’ve come!” Kagerou said with a smile. She then had a bright idea, so bright you can stick it in a socket and call it a light bulb!
“Hmm….Idea! Why not we go back to New York? Maybe see your father, or your mother? What if they hear about you kicking bad guy’s butts and saving the city!”
“How about it?!”

Victoria let Kagerou’s words sink in for a moment. She realized that maybe…Maybe Volt did change.
She wasn’t the brooding moody character she had anymore, she wasn’t the intimidating blank slate simple throwaway character Victoria had created. She had changed, all thanks to that one person who stood beside her on that balcony. She was no longer that Volt she could control or manipulate into a villain by just changing their backstory to be more tragic or by saying so.
She had changed…For the better. Victoria realized this now, she thought about it. She understood that feeling she felt when she was writing Volt with such a tragic past, with the bad intentions.
It made sense now, the guilt. The anger. It was because it felt like she was…ruining the life of another person. Victoria paused, she thought again on the offer of Kagerou. At least if the thread was retconned then maybe-
Ping.
Victoria looked and saw that it was a message from Wolf.
| TheGreatWolf99: Why? Why are you risking the whole story just for a character?
Do you want to see the story end mediocre?
Do you want to ruin everything Aquilla and Jake planned for?
Why are you not following the story? Why are you trying to protect Volt?
Is she not supposed to be a Villain? |
| VTesla26: Things change Wolf. People change wolf. |
| TheGreatWolf99: Your credibility then is quite questionable. You promised a villain, I am giving a means because you failed at your job.
Yet you are fighting back and you are not taking the offer.
If you want to follow the story you would have let this happen. |
| VTesla26: And destroy Volt’s life? Destroy her relationships with her friends? |
| TheGreatWolf99: Why does that matter to you? She’s just a character. Just a puppet to the narrative. |
Victoria clenched her fist.
| VTesla26: She does matter. That all does matter. Her story, her changing.
It matters. |
| TheGreatWolf99: It matters? What do you mean?
They are just words. Fantasies that we control.
The character isn’t real. I’m honestly wondering if you lost your mind.
That or you are trying to cover up your incompetence as a writer. |
| VTesla26: This isn’t about me or my capabilities.
And stop treating Volt like a puppet.
She’s more than that, and I don’t want to hear otherwise.
She’s a friend, she’s a hero, and she’s a mother.
She changed for the better, and you are fucking ruining everything.
I’ll tell you something, here and now.
I don’t care about the grand narrative anymore.
I quit the mod team.
And since I quit, why don’t you kindly just leave me and Volt alone.
Put in words that you might understand: Fuck off Wolfy. |
Victoria breathed deeply and sighed. This whole situation was really stressful. She wondered if she should close the laptop and call it a day, get a break. Though that would leave hanging, leave her stuck in that room at gunpoint.
Truthfully, she didn’t still know how to get her character out of that mess that Wolf made. Especially now that she was shot three times and was incapacitated. She didn’t think Wolf wouldn’t play nice either if she tried to continue it and she had to get out.
The situation felt rather helpless, but she couldn’t just leave her character alone. She wondered what she could do, but then her train of thought was interrupted.
Ping.
| AquillaTheProf: Victoria, Wolf is telling me you quit the mod team. He also sent a screenshot of all things. |
Of course, word travelled fast.
| VTesla26: I don’t want my charcter to be part of the story anymore Aquilla. I don’t want Volt to be a villain anymore.
I am done with the betrayals. |
There was some pause, but then a reply.
| AquillaTheProf: Okay listen, I know what Wolf did really upset you. I would have been really upset if he had done so with my own character.
I told him off, suspended his threads and his character for the time being.
As for you however, we still need you Victoria. |
| VTesla26: I am not going to turn her into a villain. |
| AquillaTheProf: Wait let me finish, jeez. Calm down.
I read what Jake sent me, the lengthy stuff. I also checked the sheet and looked at the background both of you created. He made an interesting proposition for Volt.
He told me that we can keep you as a hero since your character aligns to it quite well now. |
| VTesla26: Wait…really? |
| AquillaTheProf: He did. Honestly, I was surprised, but he made a very sound argument for his point. Remember how in the betrayal week Merlin is going to be killed and the super weapon is going to be stolen? As much as I want to trust the other RPers, the heroes might need a leader to look up to. Volt seems that kind of person who will take up the mantle when the bad stuff goes down.
That is of course, if you want to. |
Victoria blinked. Jake thought up all of this?
| VTesla26: I mean…sure. I can do it. |
| AquillaTheProf: So, you’re not quitting the moderator team then? |
Victoria paused, she shook her head.
| VTesla26: …Fine. As long as you tell Wolf not to talk to me however. |
| AquillaTheProf: Noted. I’ll inform Wolf of the changed plans as well.
Oh also, you want to retcon the thread right? I can ask Wolf to delete it. |
| VTesla26: Yes please. |
Victoria took a deep breath then sighed in relief. Glad to see that she wasn’t obligated anymore to make Volt into a villain. She was really glad that she could stay a hero, and would take up leadership when the situation called for it. It sounded like something Volt would do…
…Well, sure she would somewhat do given a certain situation. She is planning to retire after the last few missions after all, but if Merlin is going to die…she would definitely step up to the mantle.
Ping.
| AquillaTheProf: Slight problem. |
| VTesla26: What now? |
| AquillaTheProf: We can’t exactly retcon the thread with you and Volt. |
| VTesla26: Why? |
| AquillaTheProf: Because one this isn’t a personal event thread, but an EVENT THREAD. So, people are assuming that it’s official and RP wide. People are asking me about the details so that they can write story posts about it. I believe Jenn and Spring already making reactions about the broadcast. |
| VTesla26: That fast?? |
| AquillaTheProf: Yep. So most likely you’ll have to continue the thread and resolve it. |
| VTesla26: What? Really? I have to continue with Wolf?? |
| AquillaTheProf: Don’t worry. I’m taking full control of the thread, don’t worry about Wolf making it extremely unfair. I should be able to do it.
Though given the fact that Volt was shot THREE TIMES, I suppose you want some help? |
Victoria rubbed her forehead. At least Wolf wasn’t in charge anymore, but now the broadcast is canon. Her secret is out in the open, and without her permission as well. She could at least get someone else into the thread to save, but who would be able to get it off Volt’s mind...
She had an idea.
| VTesla26: Saraaaaaah. I need help in the event thread asap. Think you’re up for it? |
| Sarararah2000: OH YES SURE. I AM ON THE CASE. |
