The birth of the princes was a happy day for all, both in Ether and in Creation. The King and Queen of All conceived twin boys, the Princes of All. One had dark hair and was calm even when they came from the womb, the other had light hair and screamed and thrashed from the moment he was born. They grew together, thick as thieves, depending on one another in everything they did. They protected each other and would defend each other until death, but the same could not be said for their relationship with their parents. The Calm Prince, as he was known by the midwives, loved his mother and father and was kind to them as they were to him. He was gracious in all things and growing to be a warrior. The Wild Prince was different, he had been born with something broken within him. He had been an unexpected child. The midwives assured Queen of All that she had one child growing within her, the Calm Prince, and the Prophet said he would be god of all that is strong. None foresaw the birth of the Wild Prince. The Prophet was shocked, sure that she would have seen the child in Queen of All’s womb. The Prophet was terrified, for even when the Wild Prince was born, she could not see into him. Her mind’s eye was blind when looking at the child and it nearly drove her mad. The Wild Prince was not meant to be, she said, and all would come to know.
The Wild Prince was full of blackest anger, a hole of nothingness growing within him. All could see this, but his mother chose to ignore it, much to King of All’s anger. She loved both her children dearly, but King of All wanted to fix the Wild Prince and make him more like his brother. Even the Calm Prince loved his brother, only wanting to help him contain his darkness, not change him. The anger of King of All poisoned the Wild Prince and the Wild Prince came to hate his father with the deepest hatred ever known. The hatred only grew deeper and worse with his madness and he soon wreaked havoc upon all.
