Darkness.

It's nighttime already I went to bed and decided to check out the game.

As I wore the headgear and turned the power on, a hologram appeared before my eyes.

As I said yes, darkness engulfed my vision and I found myself in a vast, black and white tiled room. Woah. I checked hands, my feet and my chest. Everything does look real. Impressive.

I was observing my surroundings, then a voice from behind called me.

"Ohayou! Watashi wa Inoue wakarimashita. Welcome to Rise of Legends, first player! You're the first one that entered the game. Congratulations!"

As I turned around , a girl game operator appeared, in a capsule-like ship that fits only for her with many computer and other controllers.

I gave her a questioning look. "What the-----"

She interrupted me. "Ara,ara, no questions. Let's start making your Legend!"

"....legend?"

"Hai, your character or avatar or whatever you may call it. However, your entire looks as you make one won't alter. Do you wish to increase 35% to your beauty? Or a 35% decrease to look ugly? Choose,"

My eyebrows twitched. " 35% more beautiful, of course."

She nodded. As she pressed a certain button from her vicinity, a hoard of weird and normal creatures surrounded us.

"What kind of specimen do you wish to turn in? You can choose from werewolves, reptilians, winged, hybrids, elves, fairies, walking plants, walking trees, humans, vampires, skeletons, centaurs, amazon, hooded, elemental figures, or human cats? Please select one."

"I want to ask a question,"

"Hai, what is it?"

"What does a 'winged' look like?"

She looked at me weirdly. "Uhhmmm, they look like elves but being a winged doesn't affect your height and you have pointy ears. Of course you have wings but they are opaque and can come off invisible or can make you fly if you achieved a certain stats,"

I nodded. " I would like to be a winged, if you please."

"Coming right up! You can look at yourself in the system mirror in front of you so you can look at your appearance,"

In a 'poof', a mirror appeared in front of me and I stared at my reflection.

My heterochromatic eyes, red and azure are looking back at me. I have pointy ears, with my wavy midnight black hair and a pair of opaque or should I say---transparent bird like wings. The other one is red, while the other is azure. Very good. They match with my eyes. I looked at my clothes and noticed that I was wearing my nightgown.

" If you are wondering about your clothes, it will be determined after you choose a class. Please select from mages, elementalists, thieves, warriors, priests and alchemists,"

"I choose the thief class."

She nodded. "Please select a type. Choose from assassin or battle type,"

"I choose assassin."

"Very well,"

I looked at my reflection again and saw that my clothes changed. I was wearing a black sleeveless crop top, black vest that reaches down to my knees, black leathered shorts, with a pair of dagger strapped into is hilt. I am also wearing a pair of black combat boots that has hidden knives, as well. I almost scoffed as I saw that I was wearing kneepads, shoulder pads, and straps with sheaths in my legs. For weapon and stuff, I guess.

"That outfit is for beginners. You earn your equipment, necessary weapons and other protective clothes, as well as money. If you want to change your class you can inquire to a certain NPC. You can't change your species,"

I nodded.

"So what will be your legend's name? Please select a name for this game, thus it will be permanent. For further advice, do not choose one that is connected with your real ones."

"Red Midnight." I said without hesitation.

"Okay, Red Midnight it is then,"

I nodded.

"Do you wish to confirm your name? You can never change it,"

"Yes, I confirm it."

She nodded and pressed 'CONFIRM' in a hologram in front of her.

"Well, your starter money as a newbie is 500 copper but since you're the first player, the system will grant you 5 silver."

I almost widened my eyes. My prediction is that the currency here is the same, well I guess not. Is 5 silver even a great value?

The GO raised her brows at me. "Girl, 700 coppers is equal to one silver, so you're lucky that you're the first player and you will gain advantage. Now I will input the data of rules, regulations, currency and such to your brain as waves. And also swipe your right hand down and say 'status', and you will see your current stats and identity. Swipe your left hand down and say 'inventory, and of course your inventory would appear. Swipe any of your hands to the left and you will see your notifications, as well as your friends list. Doesn't matter whether you say it aloud or in your mind,"

I nodded as I understood.

"Oh, and where do you wish to be spawned? To the central, northern, southern, western or eastern continent? You will be automatically transported in its rebirth point. When you get killed in the game, this is where you will spawn again. Please select from the given locations."

I paused for a moment silently and thought for a while.

"I choose the central continent."

"Coming right up, central continent! Good luck, Red Midnight!"

As she said those words, I felt like as if a mysterious force pulled me down, to another place. I want to say 'wait', as I have many questions, but I guess I have to answer it all myself now.

Sigh. I will kill my aniki if this game would waste my gamer time.

I closed my eyes in anticipation, as I felt the ground beneath me.
