Azukaia (Red Midnight)
As I opened my eyes to the new environment, I was surprised. And this is rare, because I rarely get surprised. Everything sure looks real. The streets are not bustling yet, but from where I'm from and my special vision because of my eyes, I can see from afar that are stores, small structures and NPCs lurking around. The road is made of brick and there are many trees around but still, it looks like a village or something.
Looks like my brother chose an environment like this, unlike the setting of the modern world. It would suck if he would do so. Like seriously, everything looks so undated, but at the same time, new. Weird, right? But seriously, I'd scout this place so I can always visualize a map in my mind since I have an 'extreme'---as my brother would call it---photographic memory. I guess it's also one of my natural abilities.
Sigh. It's a good thing that being here doesn't change the way your body is from the start.
Well, my brother said once that the feeling of pain here is really realistic, so I won't dare to be rash. Since I've known and I was forced to learn 100 forms of martial arts since I was a kid, though I haven't yet perfected the 45 forms out of 100, I chose the thief class and the assassin type because it's a silent killer picture. I love silence and moving in the shadows, unknown. Well, I'm a quiet and reserved person, they say. Or maybe my brother is just way too energetic. Whatever.
I prefer to argue with myself in my mind, because I don't like voicing out my feelings, so I always give absolute opinions rarely. Aniki though is a complete opposite. But then, he's a total bipolar. Psh.
I swept my right hand down to check my stats. True enough, a hologram appeared and I read it silently.
Name: Red Midnight
Age: 13
Class: Assassin Thief
Level: 1 (Assassin Artist)
Impending Rush: 0%
Health: 100%
Speed: 0
Strength: 0
Intelligence: 0
Damage: 0%
I frowned. Looks like I have to grind some mobs and gain stats.
I looked around again, just in case. This place has many transportation circles, so I guess this really is the rebirth point. I started to walk straight ahead to the streets, since I know nothing about this place.
I explored a bit and saw pavilions, lots, NPCs that are just strolling, the market, food stores and restaurants, plazas, etc. Eh? Looks like I have to eat and sleep in this world too. What a bummer. And checking the sky, it's day time, yet in the real world it's already night time. My guess is time is slower here but in the real world, everything is just in the matter of seconds. Well whatever, Might as well as explore a bit more because when other players arrive, I won't have much freedom to casually lurk around.

After a few hours of scouting and mapping places, I headed over to the forest area. From the looks of it, mobs and monsters should be here since duh, it's the forest area so it's neutral grounds. I'm a gamer myself, and even though it's my first time on a virtual reality game, I'm not that dense to not have a common sense.
Let's see....
For now I only have a pair of daggers and one emergency throwing knife at each of my boot.
Should I go on with these? Or not?
Whatever. I head back to the village and went to a certain store. The NPC who is managing the store greeted me immediately as she saw me.
"Hello, what can I do for you?" She asked, smiling. Considering that she's an NPC, maybe it's normal for her not to be fazed by my cold and sharp glare. It is a habit of mine and it has been my normal façade and face since then. A cold and sharp glare. I was never the one to smile anyways.
"Do you have a strong band or string item for throwing daggers?" I asked, staring at the holes at the handle of my daggers.
"Oh, you mean the LuHao's string?" She asked and snapped her fingers, and a hologram appeared. In it there's a deep red colored string or LuHao's string or whatever—and it's literally glowing dark black. As if a red moon shining in a twilight.
"If that's what is called, I'm not specifically sure,"
"This string has 0 level requirements and can be acquired by any class. This string can also be shortened or lengthened according to its owner's will and control. It also sticks to where it is supposed to be and can be divided to many parts. However, this is a levelling type of equipment to it levels as your level increases, too."
If that's the case, then she wouldn't have to worry about constantly buying equipment as she levels.
"How much?"
"Since this is a levelling type of equipment, it's a bit expensive than—"
"How much?" I asked, glaring at the NPC. She has no right to criticize my decision.
"500 copper."
Okay. What the heck. Maybe this 5 silver that I own really does have a value.
"I wish to exchange transactions, then," I said and she nodded.
I went to my inventory and sent 500 copper to her shop. As I did so, she sent the LuHao's string and I took it out of my inventory and snap it into two.
As I was on my way to the forest area, I tied the 1st half to one of my daggers. As I did so, it glowed and it looks like the string is now attached to the dagger. Nice. I did the same to the other half and another dagger and the same thing happened. I smirked and took off my black leather elbow guards and put them in my inventory.
And then I coiled the other end of the string to my arm, starting from the elbows down to my wrist. It glowed, and the string is like as if it became part of my flesh and it really looks like I have red coiling veins. True enough, it does attach itself to its master. I did the same also to my other arm. The 'string' is an inch wide, so they look a bit like ribbons.
Hah. My purpose is that I can throw these daggers freely and control its direction frequently since this string can make itself long or short and at the same time, I control it. Heck I can even hook, suffocate, squeeze or trap any creature using these strings if I wanted to.
I also learned that my dagger is also levelling type equipment. The system said that it's part of my reward as the first player but unfortunately, the throwing knives aren't. My combat boots are also levelling type and as well as my vest. I also discovered that I can turn the vest into a hood with long sleeves. It would be fit for me since I need to hide my arms from the exposure of my weapon.
And so I changed my vest into the long sleeved hood that would make me look like a dementor or something. I made my wings invisible because the different color would stand out considering that it doesn't look normal.
I saw a Lion low-tier beast in a distance from where I am. It looks like it was separated from its den, so it's all alone. Since I was trained in silent movements, the lion hasn't detected my presence yet.
Lion (Low Tier beast)
Level 2
Health: 800/800
I readied my weapons and turned my hood back into a shorter vest so it won't restrict my movements.
I took the handle of the both of my daggers; one from my left hand and the other is in my right hand. I crept towards the lion closer and closer, and I grasped my blade, ready to aim.
By the time the lion discovered my presence, it was already late.
I hurled my daggers at the same time, and it hit two vital points of the lion's body.
