The Red Riding Hood (short story)

Part 5

Part 5

Jun 14, 2018

Lilac hesitantly walked on the paved road, not confident about the thought of leaving her grandma with Mr. Levi. She never trusted him, and sometimes she wonders how grandma are even friends with him.

So he's the one responsible for Mister Wolf, huh?

Well, makes sense since Mr. Levi is a hunter. Hunter of any sort of animals. The more reason for her to hate him. Mister Wolf is kind and didn't hurt her, right? He should be an exception.

Lilac heard a breaking and snapping of bones, interrupting her thoughts. She looked around, wondering where the sound came from. Someone patted her shoulder and she looked at the direction beside her, only to see a boy who looks like at the age of fifteen, with an awfully comfortable presence and oddly familiar golden eyes. And since when there's a human with golden eyes? Well, maybe he's foreign?

She examined the boy, who was only wearing trousers, with no top on.

She tilted her head in confusion. "Mister, aren't you cold? You're not wearing any top on,"

The said boy just looked in her eyes and smiled warmly. "I don't need to."

"Why?"

"Because I'm warm enough to keep the cold away."

"Really? Can I touch you, then?"

He nodded, agreeing. And soon enough Lilac's hand was touching the boy's chest, and true enough, it was warm. Comfortably warm. And when she touched him, she swears she felt some sparks tingling on her skin.

And his eyes. It was attractive and Lilac can forever get lost in that eyes. His aura was warm, confident and radiating with authority. But nevertheless, she felt safer in his presence. Odd, because she feels like she wants to be with him forever.

"Wow, you're warmer than my mother!" She exclaimed, earning a smirk from the guy.

"Would you like a hug, then?"

She nodded, and he quickly bent down to her level and hugged her tightly, as if never wanting to let go. Lilac hugged back in the same manner.

The said boy snuggled his head in the crook in her neck, and it was weird—it's like as if he was sniffing her, trying to know her scent. But she ignored it, brushing it off.

"What's your name?"

"Lilac, but they call me Red Riding hood!"

"I can see that."

"What's your name?"

" It's Reiji,"

Lilac broke free from his hug and trapped his head in her small hands. She studied his eyes, because it was really familiar.

"Is something the matter, Lily?"

Lilac frowned. "Lily?"

Reiji grinned adorably. "It's my nickname for you, and only I can call you that."

"Okie. By the way, you're eyes look familiar..."

Reiji smirked. "What, is it the same with the wolf you met hours ago?"

She beamed at him and snapped her fingers. "Yeah! That was ----wait, how did you know?"

Reiji went closer to her and whispered. "Let me tell you a secret,"

"What secret?" Lilac whispered back, looking at him with eyes full of wonder.

"I'm that wolf,"

Lilac looked at him excitedly, surprising him.

Who says the fairytale was never real?

Lilac thought it was actually weird. The trap look like it can snap her bones into two, but oh well, the wolf's wounds look like as if it only made a gash. It's bleeding, but at least the wolf's bones didn't break.

"Mister Wolf, you're lucky your bones aren't affected. If it was, it would be too hard for me to carry you to a clinic--you're too heavy!" She innocently giggled at the said creature, which is now staring and observing her every move.

Lilac, feeling its stare, turned to look up at its golden eyes. To say it was attractive is an understatement, it was captivating. Too captivating for her.
