The four arrived at what was left the grey and blue temple swiftly with Remus being the last, heaving whatever contents were in his stomach and giving a vulgar finger to Maia whose looks feigned ignorance as her branchlike hand reverted to the illusion of flesh.
“Damn it, Maia, why do you always have to do that every time we teleport!” Remus continued to heave and whine until she felt a bit sorry and went face to face with him and could have sworn she noticed a bit of red that tinged the demigods’ cheeks as she kissed his forehead lightly performing a silent healing incantation on him making the color return brightly back to his tanned skin.
Titania made a stifling noise in her throat as she tried to hold back a cackle and teased “who would have thought the god of wars son would be so bashful over a mere kiss on the forehead she was just healing you, it’s not like you’re still a virgin after thousands of years.”
For the first time, there was no remark back and Remus’s bashfulness made a grim turn when he faced the queen and she realized she touched upon something that should not have been.
“Now we all know I would have had a plethora of women by now if I would have gotten the chance to make love to the first woman I’ve ever loved if it wasn’t for a certain somebody” Remus raised his voice giving a glance in the direction of the archangel who stood silently with his back turned to the group, wings unruffled with no indication of emotion, but Remus hoped that brought up some dark memories during the ages before he was blessed as the utmost holy.
Maia gently brushed her hand over the arm of Remus and he relaxed instantly, the mage always knew how to make him how to calm his rage somehow; maybe it was due to some mage treatment she gives to him frequently that helps keep his anger in check or something different he keeps burrowed deep inside.
Titania spoke up, “I’m sorry Remus I forgot that- “its ok” Remus cut the queen off “I’m sorry for snapping at you it wasn’t right dont take my hot-headedness to heart, just blame the god of war for passing on that nasty trait.” He sighed rubbing his temples.
Titania sighed with a slight relief and the group headed towards the direction of Michael who was doing prayer before he stepped into the now crumbling temple only to discover a bloody mess of both ghoul and angel blood. Maia made her way past the others to find a heavily injured soldier near a broken column and checked his pulse, but he was already gone long before they arrived.
Maia lifted her head and shook sorrowfully.
“How unfortunate, he died protecting our treasure but… hopefully, now he can rest in peace” Michael said as he knelt to the corpse and prayed silently while staring into the cavern for eyes the corpse had left intact to see the memories of the battle that previously took place. Once the memories finished the corpse then turned to ash and dust leaving behind nothing but silence for a few moments.
“It looks like he killed the ghoul while the other guardian was heading towards the tomb, he gave his life for this task and his death will not be held in vain as he is with peace now.” Micheal sighed heavily getting up and looked towards the deep shadowy cavern where the priestess slumbers.
“I'll light the way my lord” Titania insisted, leading the way into the dark cavern lead by a stream of small yellow pixie-like fairies with bright bodies enough to illuminate just enough to see the many whorls and runic seals destroyed by dark magic; magic much stronger then the ghouls could have ever conjured.
“Don’t tell me this is the work of Goman,” Remus said quietly stopping to trace his hand over the intricacies for a moment then regained his pace near his chosen leader when Michael replied softly, “I have no choice to consider that evil Judas is more than behind this."
