Peter's Pizza
Kenneth
Bang! Bang! Bang! What the fuck was that? I questioningly look at Quinn, who's covering his ears. I search for a phone, trying to call 911. What the hell is happening? Bang! Quinn screeches and covers his ears, kneeling down. "Quinn! Crouch down!" I yell. Everything turns black. "Holy Jesus! The fucking power is down!" I curse. "Quinn did you bring your phone?" I ask. "I think so. What about you?" he asks. "I'm grounded. I don't have my phone." I tell him. I hear fumbling around until a bright light surges through the room. "Call the police!" I tell him. He shakes head. "I don't have data. And the wifi's down, too." he says solemnly. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. What shit is happening out there? I hear footsteps outside and shush Quinn. "Turn of the fucking flashlight!" I whisper. He nods, and immediately the room turns black. "Let's head back to the staff room." Quinn says. We crawl our way to the back of the pizzeria and silently open the door. The staff room is tiny and can barely fit one person. We squish in, him basically buried into me. "I'm so scared, Ken." Quinn starts to sob. Are you freaking serious? Now I have to take care of a crying person on top of trying to hide. Curse this shit. Bang!
A and P Groceries
Axel
Bang! Bang! Bang! "What was that?" Ji asks questioningly. "Hold on, let me go check. Keep on cleaning." Ray says to us. He walks out the door, but we, of course, drop what we're doing and head over. "Hey, Ji. It might be danger, so lets stay away from view." I instruct. We hide against the wall and peak over in the window. Ray is walking to a man, but the view is obstruct. Bang!
It feels like I'm watching it in slow motion. Rays body hits the floor. A pool of crimson spreads on the floor from where the bullet struck. Ji starts to scream, but I muffle it with my hand. The man glances over in our direction. Oh, fuck. "Run!" I whisper-shout to her. I push her forward and run after her. Bang! A bullet hits the back of my thigh. I fall on the ground, in pain. Ji looks at me with tearful eyes. "C'mon Axel!" she screams, dragging me to the storage room. Everything goes black. I can't see shit. I feel like I'm drowning. She drags me and I wince. She guides me into a room and locks the door behind us. "Where are we?" I wince. "I don't know." she responds. "Are you okay?" she asks. "Oh yeah, perfectly fine. Though I'm bleeding shit tons of blood." I cry in agony. "You need to put pressure in it. Hold on, I think we're in the storage room. There must be a kit here." she says, searching. "How can you see? It's dark." I say. She sighs. "Right." I feel a hand on my face. "Oh, okay. There you are." Her hands travel down my body to my thigh. Keep on holding your thigh. I need to put pressure into it, so it won't bleed so much. Cloth. Cloth. Cloth. Cloth." she mutters. "Ah, right! My shirt. I think I have a pocketknife in my pocket from when I was cutting the flowers in the store." Rip! She ties the cloth around my thigh and does some stuff to it, but I'm not paying attention. She lays back, with a sigh and starts to cry. "Oh, gosh. Ray! He was so much younger than us. He still had a lot to look forward to." she sobs. Ring! Ring! Ring! "Quick grab the phone!" I tell her.
VCC Pharmacy
Cora
"What in the world was that?" Reid asks. "How should I know?" I tell him. Bang! I cover my ears. So loud. "Go to the back!" I say shoving him behind a shelf of medicines. Everything turns dark. "Do you have your phone?" I ask him. "Nope. You?" "No." He sighs. "Let's just stay still and quiet, then." I instruct
Ten minutes later in awkward silence.
"Why must everything be tough for me?" he blurts out. "What do you mean?" I whisper. "Everything. You have everything. Everything that was supposed to be mine." he says softly. I thought he would forget by now. "I hate that you get everything without working. College. Grades. A girlfriend. Everything!" he says. No, not everything. If I had everything, then I would be able to enjoy everything. "Are you talking about Melissa?" I whisper. "Not just Melissa, Cora! I mean everything." he cries. "She wasn't good enough for you anyway." I console. "We've been dating for four fucking years! I was going to marry her, and have a family! I was going to have everything! But then you took everything away!" he yells. I shush him. "She wasn't good enough, Reid." I say. "Oh, but she's good enough for you, then?" I sigh. "No, that's not what I meant!" "Then what do you mean, Cora. What do you mean? You ruined my life in just a week. I wish you didn't exist!" he yells.
