The Last Keeper

The Last Keeper

The Last Keeper

Jun 20, 2018

Now that the four have entered the caverns main room, there was a figure in the corner obviously hiding behind the opened iron casket and the pixie-like sprites vanished almost immediately, signaling Remus to start emitting a small fire within his hand. Everyone but Michael stood on guard until he gave a signal to remain calm.

“It’s ok you have done your job well,” Michael said to the figure that came out of the shadows holding a transparent ancient flame that happened to be the soul of the priestess encased in bands of silver runes.

“And what of her body!?” Titania gaped as she made her way towards the iron casket where nothing, but emptiness was found.

“I’m not sure,” the male said sternly, “as soon as I came down and opened the casket the body immediately became this flame, maybe as a defense or something I'm not sure."

Though his voice was stern his body and eyes were filled with fright and everyone in the room could feel it. His words were spoken and the angel knelt on both knees in front of Michael profusely apologizing for not doing his job well enough, costing the life of another and asked to have his life taken to pay for the price of his fallen comrade. Nobody expected the silent mage to step in between Michael and the righteous angel while giving a stare that seemed to have last for centuries; as this is her only form of communication.

A silent while went by and the guardian rose to his feet with slight confidence taking a humble bow. “I must apologize for making such a pitiful scene in front of the four that rule Lumos, I humbly give you the priestess.” The angel then presented the soul to his master and was sent out with Maia to have wounds healed and be sent back to his camp with not a soul to know the happenings of what just took place.

“Well, what do you suggest we do now wing boy, we are now stuck with the soul of the most powerful being in existence and have nowhere safe to put it.” Remus exasperated.

No sooner than later  Maia materialized out from behind him and gave the demigod such a fright all Lumos was sure to hear his voice go up in shrills. slight laughter immersed due to the small prank releasing a bit of the tension in the air.

“In all seriousness, my lord I'll have to agree with the meathead, what do you suggest we do?” Titania said as Remus responded with a condescending look. The archangel then looked to Maia and scarlet eyes met gold, Michael looked perplexed and intrigued, two emotions the other three rarely see from the two oldest. “Are you sure that will work?” he said as he rubbed his temples in deep thought.

“What will work?” Titania and Remus said in sync as Maia played on the biggest smile showing her sharpened teeth and crossed her arms in content.

“Maia says to plant the soul into an unborn human child and have it bear no clue of the supernatural powers it holds, emitting no sort of signal for any beings to find her, not even us!”

“Well, I'll be damned squirt you have really outdone yourself!” Remus said as he patted the pale green locks of the beaming Maia.

“I agree that’s a brilliant idea! But how would we know where to send it if we won’t know which human the soul is in?” Titania questioned.

“That will be the job of the soul, it will only choose the vessel it thinks is correct for it, only the bravest and resilient human with a pure heart will be able to pair with it,” Michael responded eyes closed still in his thoughts.

“Sooo what are we waiting for lets sent this baby over!” Remus said loudly, as always, and broke everyone out of their thoughts and quickly into work.

Sooner than said Maia and Titania worked on a magic circle around the casket while Michael placed a small blessing on the soul, and placed it directly in where the circles center would be. Remus, on the other hand, claimed he would be on guard as an excuse to catch a few “Zs” while the others worked diligently… typical demigods.

As soon as the circle was completed it shone a pale blue light and the soul pulsed in the sense that a human heart would.

“It seems like she found her vessel,” Remus said as appeared well rested and stood around the magic circle as the others have for a few moments now. “Yes, captain obvious, enjoy your two-hour nap on guard duty?” Titania said as she rolled her eyes.

“I honestly can’t counter that argument that was a very nice nap too.” He winked over in her direction while she responded with a sound of disgust which then was brought to silence as the pulsing grew stronger and felt that way too.

“The bond is in place now! we must give our offerings of protection you fools.” Michael said sternly veering his golden eyes to the troublesome pair as he unsheathed a golden knife with a language of the ancients inscribed on the hilt and sliced a bit of his hand and let the golden blood run down into the circle creating runes as he spoke. “I Michael, Archangel and leader of all races offer my bond of protection”.

The others carried out in the same fashion gold blood filling the ridges of the circles, runes began overlapping with each other. Maia being the last one of the three to complete the ritual, opened her mouth and silently rounded off the words as her old blood fell into the last crevice of the circle and was met with an erupting light cast with gold which was off into the human realm where the soul would have merged and become one with the one who would later be called, The Last Keeper.
