I gave him a quick hug, not liking the contact, but feeling that the situation called for one. My brother was being sweet and worrying for me, so I had to reward him somehow. He eyed me suspiciously as I grabbed a bowl of my own and poured cereal and milk in it. I sat in front of him and gave him a smile as I took a bite, my taste buds happy to have Lucky Charms in my mouth.
"So...?" Danny said impatiently, "What happened? Why were you going into the forest with an unknown Wolf?"
I swallowed my food, my appetite slowly disappearing as I wonder what to say. Maybe the truth won't hurt...?
"I.... I don't remember." I say truthfully. "I said hello to the other Wolf.. then I awoke in the forest this morning."
Danny looked at me expectantly, but that was all I was going to share. He narrowed his eyes at me, disappointed and muttering under his breath. He finished his food quickly, and got up abruptly, almost knocking the chair over. He grabbed his book and bowl and left the table with an exasperated 'Fine...!' as he put his things down in the kitchen sink. I sighed as I was left alone and ate the rest of my cereal in silence.
When I was done my food I put my bowl in the sink too, then started on my chores.
By the end of the day, I was exhausted. I had ran around the gym area outside for most of the morning, then moved on to improving my skills under my father's watchful eyes. When it came time for me to fight with the Warriors, my mom made sure that my job was difficult by putting me against impossible odds. We all ate dinner silently and I then went off to practice my skills of the forest with my brother and the shaman of the pack.
The little old woman was blind, but for some reason she always knew everything. And I mean everything; this one time my brother and I tried to play a prank on her. It did not end well; somehow she was able to turn the situation on us and we were the ones who were pranked instead. The elder Wolf had a lot more to her than just being blind and knowledgeable, it scared me how she always seems to know where we are and what we are doing. I was never able to relax around her.
Currently, my brother and I were walking with her in the woods. We were making our way to the practice grounds to test our knowledge of what to do when we are met with the dilemma of not having any food or water in the winter. As we walked we pointed out different plants and told the old shaman what they were. She would nod to us or shake her head after asking what it looked like exactly.
Just as we reached the practice grounds, a piercing howl came from the direction that we had come. Danny and I both swiveled around to face where the sound came from, worry quickly making us both look one another in the eyes. With the sound of a sickening crunch from behind, we both turned to see the elder Wolf on the ground, a Rouge on her back tearing at her frail old limbs.
