My friends seem to be a little anxious this morning. Each of us got to school a bit earlier than usual, so we decided to hide behind our campus. Hopefully, no one finds us here. The twins were gone yesterday and so far they haven't made an appearance this morning. Ever since Mikah spoke to that girl yesterday, he's been constantly checking his phone and having an expression of either annoyed or worried. And ever since Conner got his little DS taken away, his fingers are constantly fidgeting. He's either drumming his fingers onto hard surfaces or clicking a pen or even just playing with random objects. Conner has never really spoken to our crazed fangirls usually he's so preoccupied playing his little game, he never really notices them. But now it's almost as if the weird girls are even more drawn to him, constantly touching his arm or shoulder and giggling at him. And it's very easy to tell Conner doesn't feel comfortable in those situations at all. I never really noticed how socially awkward he is. Whenever he's with us, he seems to be just fine, of course, he has his DS in his hand but still. I watched as Mikah sent off probably another text and Conner had begun to pull out grass and weave them together in a circle. What the fuck is making?
"So..are you dating her?" I asked, looking at Mikah.
"Who?" Mikah replied, slipping his phone into his back pocket.
"That girl you spoke to after homeroom. You seemed a bit eager to talk to her." I half smiled at him. For a second Mikah looked confused then rolled his eyes at me. Honestly, who else could I be talking about? She is the only girl any of us had bothered to approach.
"No. I hardly know her but she seems nice. Defiantly not a crazed fangirl. I made a deal with her. Since we share some classes, I asked if she could sit next to me tomorrow and in exchange, I have to get Wilder to work with her on that project." Again Mikah proceeded to check his phone.
"So..you've been trying to get a hold of Wilder?" I asked. Mikah nodded and had this guilty smile on his face.
"That will never work." Conner joined in the conversation. I looked down to see him holding this weird grass crown thing. When the hell did he make two? He proceeded to stand up, placing one on Mikah's head and the other on my head.
"What the hell are these things?" I took mine off, staring at it.
"It's a...crown? I don't know." Conner sat back down on the grass and started to make one for himself, I think.
"Obviously they're to signify our royalty," Mikah said jokingly. Oh, God. I sighed and carefully put mine back on.
"And why wouldn't it work? Emah is nice." Mikah sat down next Conner watching him weave grass strands together.
"Number one, Wilder has complained ever since he got signed up with a partner. You know they both don't like new people. Ben seems to get along with us just fine, Wilder on the other hand, hardly even speaks to us. What makes you think he wants to work with a person, no a girl, that he doesn't even know." Conner had put his crown on his head and faced Mikah. He does have a point. No way in hell is Wilder ever gonna work with her. Mikah sighed loudly and leaned against the fence.
"It doesn't even matter because neither of them have answered me. Both are ignoring my texts and calls. Do you two think they're okay? Like what if some crap went down and they're hurt or something?" Mikah said as a worried expression crossed his face.
"Relax, they're fine." Conner stood up offering his hand to help Mikah up. He says that but his expression isn't fooling us. The twins share a phone and usually, Ben answers it, if he doesn't answer he'll reply to you eventually. To summarize, they have never, not replied to us. At that moment the bell decided to go off startling all of us. I really don't want to go to class. Like I really don't want to go.
"I honestly don't think I'd survive homeroom if it weren't for you guys." Mikah smiled at the two of us tipping his crown in our general direction. I rolled my eyes. Sheesh, no need to get all mushy. Conner sighed and nodded his head.
"I'll have to agree with you on that one." He replied. Yup, me too Mikah.

Lunch was a riot. Not only was Conner and I swamped with girls (I swear it's like they prey on us when we're weak in numbers.) which literally took up half the lunch period trying to get them to leave. But when Tristian finally did arrive he had this small bruise under his right eye. Normally the twins are with him since they have the same class before lunch, however, both of them have suddenly disappeared and of course, Tristian was alone. He told us Grant and his asshole friends jumped him. Jerks.
After lunch, I continued with my classes as normal. Except I had such a hard time paying attention, I kept worrying about the twins, and before I knew it the day was almost over. I only have this last class before we finally get out of school, of course, it's also another one of my worst subjects, History. I had a hard time listening, too much on my mind of course I did that to myself. Agreeing to some stupid deal so I wouldn't have to deal with random girls sitting next to me in every class, for a lie. I'm not even sure if Wilder will agree to it, what Conner had said is still echoing in my mind and I can't forget his words. Next thing I know everyone has to find a partner. Shit, I wasn't even paying attention to the lesson, let alone what we're supposed to be doing now. Within minutes girls had surrounded me, asking the same question, talking all at once. Lord help me.
Do I even know anyone in this class? Ignoring all the girls in front of me I searched around the room for some familiar face. Wait, isn't that Emah? Looking closer at the blonde tucked in a corner, it is her. Holy shit, I am saved! I cleared my throat, please let her be alone.
"Sorry girls, but I uh, already have a partner." I scratched the back of my head smiling nervously at them. They of course made several disappointing remarks and eventually went separate ways to find a potential partner. I got up as soon as I could and bolted towards Emah. How have I not noticed her in this class before? I quickly pulled up a chair to her desk, sat down while accidentally scaring the absolute crap out of her. I mean she actually jumped.
"Uh...hey?" She said nervously.
"Sorry, I just thought we could be partners. Unless you already have one! Then obviously I can't be your partner...do you have one?" I scratched the back of my head.
"No, the teacher did say having a partner was optional. I planned to work alone actually. But uh...I guess we can be partners? Unless you are uncooperative like your friend." Emah had slightly glared at me when she brought up the whole Wilder situation.
"Nope! Completely reliable!" I smiled proudly.
"Speaking of that, you did talk to him, right? I mean he is coming?" For a second Emah looked a bit worried.
"Oh..uh, yeah! Totally! He'll be there.." I hope I didn't sound too nervous. Why am I even lying to her? She didn't do anything wrong.
"Good. I was worried he denied you and wouldn't show up tomorrow after school. Wilder kind of seems a bit anxious around people he doesn't know so if it'll make him feel more at ease, Ben can come too. Actually, if he wants, you all can show up for like, moral support. Or something." Emah smiled at me. Yeah, she defiantly doesn't deserve me lying to her like this.
"Oh. That's actually really thoughtful of you. I'll make sure to tell him." That is when I finally get around asking him. Good God, what if he doesn't even show up on Friday?!
"Also I'm bringing one of my friends along with me. For you know, moral support."
"That's cool. No problem."
Emah opened the textbook in front of her and began to flip through the pages. She started to write stuff down off the page she stopped at, but then she just stopped writing and looked at me with a very irritated expression.
"Um. Aren't you going to do the work problems?"
"What?" I am so confused. Emah sighed.
"Were you even paying attention?"
"Um. Well, see, uh, History isn't my best subject so maybe you could just, I don't know, point me in the right direction and I can take it from there." Emah didn't seem too pleased with this but even so, she nodded and began to help me out.
