Chapter 3
Once all the boy students filed into the gym, they started up a game of indoor soccer.
Rich boy was on the opposite team and Jinx was the captain of his.
As soon as the whistle was blown, Jinx stole the ball, pushed past the defenders, and scored from 15 feet away.
Really, it’s like they're not even trying, well, they probably are not anyway. They are just moving around enough to get semi-okay grades from the gym teacher without really doing anything, Jinx thought and mentally sighed.
My team gave out a halfhearted cheer and Jinx walked farther out into the fake indoor field in hopes of stealing the ball again.
Jinx was about 2 feet away from the ball and about to kick it back into the goal for another point when he felt a heavy gaze on him again.
Jinx was immediately unnerved and faltered slightly.
The ball was stolen from him in that split second and shot into his team’s goal.
Pissed off that rich boy had decided to win on his first day, Jinx walked back down the field feeling his heavy satisfied gaze on him again.
Jinx really wanted to flip him off.
They ended up competing against each other.
Jinx used his speed and control to get 8 more points while he used his strength with his height to intimidate and scored 6 more points.
Even though Jinx won, he still felt like his masculinity was being called into question and he really did not like it.
He felt like he was being looked down on.
Jinx looked over at Kuroi, sizing him up.
He looked happy to have played and scored so many points even though he lost.
Is he really a happy-go-lucky rich boy with no problems in life at all? Jinx wanted to start swearing his mouth off at him.
But he did not, Jinx used all his mental maturity to walk off the fake field and off to the locker room. he quickly stole his clothes from his gym locker and just changed in a bathroom stall instead.
They had some free time in the gym now so Jinx played his music from his cheap music player and went off into a corner to zone out until the bell rang.
Kuroi came out and seemed to be sort of at a loss at what to do, so he just walked towards Jinx.
He sat down along the wall and stayed quiet.
Annoyed, Jinx pulled out one earbud in case he started talking.
Immediately Jinx felt his heavy gaze land on him again.
He pretended he was not crushed under his look and decided to give him a piece of his mind.
“Hey, take a picture it will last longer.” Jinx hissed out.
He seemed startled that Jinx talked to him like that, and he suddenly burst out laughing.
Jinx was confused, wouldn’t you be normally pissed if someone talks to you like that? Weird guy.
“Sorry sorry, most people don’t talk to me like that so I was startled a little bit.” He grinned making Jinx feel funny again.
“You are an interesting guy, I would like to get to know you better.”
“Really now? I'm pretty sure you have a bigger list of options rather than a random social hermit like me.” Jinx smirked at him.
He gave me a confused look.
“What do you mean?”
Jinx rolled his eyes and turned his head, gesturing it at the other side of the gym where all the girls were.
“I'm pretty sure you have a VERY open list when it comes to conversational partners. Seems to me like some of those girls would be willing to lick the very floors you walk on, in my opinion.”
Kuroi looked a bit uncomfortable.
“I am not very interested in any of them, they look at me like im a piece of meat.”
Jinx snorted slightly.
“Well technically you are? Our bodies are made of flesh and muscle blah blah etc.?”
Kuroi gave Jinx a look.
“Just saying, you know?”
Kuroi sighed.
“Yes, yes I get it. I meant they look at me as if all they see are the dollar signs above my head and not what's inside of it.”
“Mhmmm, they probably are looking at you like that. Who wouldn't want to marry someone who could ensure a stable future for them? I mean, they probably want someone who's not a bum and can support themselves at least? I mean, I wouldn't want to marry someone who would refuse to even try to get a job. So uh, honey you more than fit the bill?”
“.....Did you just call me ‘honey’?”
Jinx leaned back and looked at him.
“Got an issue if I did?”
“Well uh, no?”
“Good.” He shrugged at him.
The bell rang.
Jinx grabbed a piece of mint gum and popped it in his mouth, then offered Kuroi a piece.
“Thanks.” He said.
Jinx just blew a bubble in his face as a response and walked towards the door with him in tow.
I didn't realize that I had basically signaled it was ok to hang around me until I got to the next class and sat down with him, OF COURSE sitting next to me.
Great, Jinx thought.
