Tarzan and I have been spending a lot of time together lately. I help him with his studies and he gets me out of my room and out of my books. My favorite time is when we go star gazing.
“Jane? Hello?” I blinked and looked over at Belle.
“Oh, sorry. Was I spacing again?”
“Yes. But I understand.”
“Zan wants me to meet his cousins tonight.”
“Wow meeting the family.”
“He’s always talking about them and they seem really great…”
“But?”
“I’m nervous.”
“That’s okay, I would be too.”
“How’s it going between you and Adam?” Belle shrugged
“Things have changed since the attack. He’s quitter than usual and looks angry all the time. Lumiere says he’s just brooding and he’ll get over it at some point, but I feel like I’m a bother to him again.”
“Have you told him you love him yet?” Belle shook her head no. We were sitting on the window seat in the library, I looked out the window not sure what to say. I want to help them but this is something they need to figure out on their own. I can’t focus on anything, I told Isabelle I would see her later and got up to take a walk around the garden to clear my head. I expected it to be empty but it wasn’t, Tarzan stood in the middle of the garden with his arms wrapped around another girl. She hugged him back, a soft smile on her face. I stood there watching them. They smiled at each other and let go of their hug. I watched as they laughed and talked, it felt like time had stopped as I watched them. I saw her kiss him on the cheek and say goodbye, with that kiss I started to silently cry. I have to get out of here. I started to walk away but I heard my name being called.
“Jane?” I stopped and turned towards the voice.
“Oh hi Clayton.” I wiped my eyes real quick before he could see. He’s Snow’s brother, you can usually find him in the student office doing work for the school. Snow likes to call him Grumpy so it seems like everyone’s adopted the nickname for him. He’s a great guy but can have a short temper and can be very stubborn.
“Hey what’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong. Just got some dirt in my eyes.”
“Yeah, okay.” I know he doesn’t believe me but I don’t feel like talking to him about it.
“I’ll… Ah, see you later Clayton.” He nodded and I walked back to my room, hoping that I didn’t run into anyone else on my way there.
