Yūki felt fear and anxiety rising from her abdomen and spreading throughout her whole entire body. It was a feeling she was quite familiar with, she felt it multiple times a day, the same exact feeling. However, this feeling was slightly different than all the other times. This time, the feeling seemed to yield to her as she held on tightly to Maiko's hand.
"Yūki," Maiko said, almost immediately breaking Yūki out of her trance-like state, "Are you going to order any food? The bartender is still waiting."
Yūki gulped as her face turned a bright shade of red, "Oh! Sorry, sorry! I think I want a grilled salmon, a bowl of fried rice, and a bowl of vegetables..."
Maiko laughed, "Your order is as predictable as ever, Yūki,"
Yūki shrugged, "Salmon is really good..." Yūki said, watching the bartender go about his routines.
The bartender quickly and gracefully raced around the bar serving each and every one of the over 30 customers, including Yūki and Maiko with the speed of a horse. Yūki watched enviously.
The bartender gracefully rounded each and every table corner and easily kept the food and drinks balanced in his hands. Soon, he was back with Yūki and Maiko and placed their food and drinks in front of them.
The salmon steamed in front of Yūki's face, it sat gently on the plate. Her rice rested gently in the bowl, and the vegetables were a healthy shade of green. The bartender carefully filled a cup with an ale, it was a very healthy golden color.
Maiko tapped on Yūki's shoulder, "I cannot remember if I told you this before, but, happy twenty-second birthday! I love you, you are the prettiest woman I have ever seen in my life,"
Yūki felt her face burn, her face had started to flush with color, "But, you are the pretty one..." Yūki murmured.
Maiko had begun eating and drinking, there was a certain elegance in the way she did basic tasks Yūki absolutely admired. Yūki caught herself staring and quickly ate, a small amount of salmon getting caught in her throat midway through.
Yūki started to cough.
Maiko laughed and rubbed Yūki's back, occasionally hitting it lightly, "Yūki, what have I told you about eating so fast?"
Maiko guided Yūki's head toward her shoulder and plucked a kiss on Yūki's forehead, "I actually have something for you, since it is your birthday and all, I thought this would be a good time to give it to you." Maiko said as she wrapped her hands around Yūki's under the bar.
Yūki beamed at the feeling of Maiko's skin on her own, Yūki adored Maiko more than anyone else.
Maiko inhaled deeply, "Anyway, the present I bought for you is uhm... right here in my pocket, we should finish our food before I give it to you, though!"
Yūki nodded and continued to eat her food slowly.
After a while, both of them had finished eating, Maiko had finished first and watched Yūki finish.
Maiko quickly rushed Yūki out of the bar.
Yūki looked at the night sky, a beautiful mesh of colors covered the sky. Blue, purple, and so many other colors all merged together perfectly.
Yūki looked over to Maiko. Maiko's face flushed with color and there was a certain nervous energy around her, an energy that Yūki had never felt from Maiko. It was as though Maiko was embarrassed for the first time ever.
The wind started to blow through Maiko's hair, "So, Yūki... About my present for your birthday," Maiko said as she pulled out a small box from her pocket, "Well, here it is,"
Yūki looked at the box and opened it, a ring rested calmly inside of it. A beautiful silver ring that seemed to cut through you, with three small diamonds resting gently on the ring.
Maiko's eyes darted to the side as she rested her arms behind her, "So uhm, will... Will you marry me?"
