It's been 1 week since the incident that happened at school. Me and Martin have been really close lately. There is still something that bugs me about him. He looks really familiar, but I can't put a finger on it. I'm gonna ask him about it, but first I need to find him.
'Hmm...where could he be?' I thought.
I was walking around the school, trying to find him, but with no hope. Then I gave up.
'He will probably show up by himself, like he usually does'
As soon as I turned the corner I saw her. The queen of the school and my personal bully....Nicole Anderson. I didn't really understand why she bullied only me, but I wanted it to stop. She was with a group of girls, probably her friends. I tried to leave, but too late. She already saw me.
Nicole: Hey, look who it's here girls. The freak!!
They all started laughing at me, even some other students that were around there. I hated this moment. I always tried to avoid it, but she would always find a way to make fun out of me. Then I heard a voice I was hoping to hear.
Martin: Hey! Stop bullying him or I'm not gonna be this good the next time.
Nicole: Hmpf! Let's go girls!
After they left, I released a breath of relief. Most of the bullies feared Martin because he was really strong and he had gained quite reputation because of that. He looked at me.
Martin: Are you ok?
Jacob: Yea I'm fine. Thanks.
Martin: Don't mention it. Come on! Let's go grab some lunch.
Jacob: Sure. Sounds good.
After we ate, we were hanging out on the roof. I took advantage of the moment and asked him.
Jacob: Hey Martin? I don't know why, but you seem really familiar to me. Do you have any idea why?
Martin: It's about time Jacob. I was starting to get bored.
Jacob: What do you mean?
Martin: You really don't remember, do you?
Jacob: What should I remember?
Martin: I'm your cousin Jacob! After your mom died, we never really talked anymore and you moving out of the country didn't help at all.
Jacob: Wait....Martin?! Is it really you?!?
Martin: Yup, it's me. I guess it has been a long time and we both have grown up. That's why you didn't recognize me sooner.
Jacob: Oh God! I can't believe it is really you!
After we shared a hug we both missed for a long time, we talked about how our families have been.
Jacob: So how has aunt Emma been? What about George?
Martin: They both have been good. George has actually found a job in San Francisco.
Jacob: That's great! I miss them both.
Martin: You will see them soon. They are going to come here to visit me. What about your father? How has he been?
Jacob: My father killed himself a year ago. He couldn't bear the pain my mom's death caused him.
Martin: I'm so sorry Jacob! I shouldn't have asked.
Jacob: No..It's ok. I have learned to roll with it now.
Martin: Well whatever you do cousin, I'll be there for you.
Jacob: Thank you Martin.
