Tony Caron is the kind of guy you don't necessarily like to meet in a dark street, with a shaved head, hard eyes, an imposing stature, used to bad neighborhoods, fights and alcohol. He has been a drug dealer since the age of 15, he is known to be the worst scoundrel.
Today, however, as he crosses the little wood that leads him home, he experiences a feeling he thought was reserved for his victims: fear.
It all started a little earlier in the evening, when he swallowed his eighth beer at the counter of a downtown bar. The evening started well, indeed, his best customer just confirmed him that he wanted to double his coke orders and even paid him a generous deposit for the next order.
While he was celebrating this new sale face to face with his pint, a young girl entered the bar. She must have been about 18 years old, rather pretty, with blond hair tending towards chestnut, combed with long quilts running down her shoulders and held by ribbons. Her angel face was in sharp contrast with her clothes. She was wearing tight jeans with the first button open and a red sleeveless jacket lined with white fur that she wore directly on her skin, open, revealing her cleavage.
When she crossed the room to settle down at the bar, all the boozers raised their heads by her passage, incredulous, some even addressed her some whistles before being shot by her sharp glance.
Her eyes, that's what triggered the damn fear... She had red eyes like those of an albino, a hard look that pierced him through. Cold sweats ran down his spine, that look was not the one of a human being, no, it was too penetrating, she looked like a predator ready to devour her prey.
Then she spoke to him:
- I want the transfer stone... the one you stole from the Tamani residence two years ago...
His throat had suddenly dried up, he had to take a sip of beer before he could answer, he tried to make his tone as detached as possible, but the intonation of his voice let his discomfort show..:
- I don't know what you're talking about, girl...
He paused, himself surprised by the voice that got out his throat, he had not recognized it, weak, strangled and trembling.
Of course, he knew what she was talking about, this stone was the best catch of his career, a green gem the size of a fist that he had sold for gold to a collector.
He drank another sip, cleared his throat before adding while getting on his feet:
- Leave me alone and make sure I don't see you again...
He had dropped this sentence without even looking at her, then headed out of the bar, he continued walking, looking straight ahead, he left the city, and continued on his way to the edge of the woods.
The forest was dark in spite of the moonlight and his anguish grew little by little, he accelerated the pace, threw a quick glance behind him, she was there, a few meters behind him.
Tony knew the forest like the back of his hand, a little further away, there was a clearing with a view overlooking the city, that's where he would act and if needed, he could even get rid of the body...
When he got to the clearing, he turned around:
- Enough! I told you I don't have the fucking stone!
- Why are you getting so upset? A fat man like you should be more than flattered that a girl like me gets interested in him..."
The voice that answered him was calm and placed. And yet, she weighed about 55kilos at most, frail as she was, he could certainly kill her with a single punch... This thought was enough to reassure him, in an instant, he had regained all his self-confidence.
- Bitch, I'm gonna make you regret calling me fat!
He stepped forward, stared straight into her eyes, and then froze again.
In a second, the face in front of him had changed. The girl now had eight bright red eyes. Then the next second, the sound of a fabric being torn made him look down at the girl's legs and what he saw froze his blood, from her shredded jeans now emerged six huge spider-like legs. She now looked like a creature from a Z-series movie.
He remained frozen contemplating this horrible metamorphosis, his brain no longer managed to emit the least coherent thought, his instinct told him to flee but his body refused to move.
He was suddenly reminded of reality by the voice emanating from that monster:
- In the end, I think you’ll be the one who regrets your insults... If you don't tell me where to find this stone, I'll eat your brain...
And as the spider woman approached him, his voice got finally released and his horrified shriek tore the silence of the night. He was so focused on her glowing eyes that he did not see one of the enormous legs rise up and fall violently on him, striking his head, almost knocking him out.
A second blow to the stomach took his breath away. Lying on the ground, vulnerable, he understood that his only chance was to speak:
- André Muriak, the collector, he has the stone, so please let me go...
He was lying on the ground, curled up on himself like a scared animal while she overhung him, staring at him with her red eyes.
There was silence and then she smiled:
- Andre Muriak?
- Yes, that's right, André Muriak, he lives in a small manor near here, I can even drive you there if you want..."
- It won't be necessary, and it would be a shame to delay your trip...
- Wha...What trip?
- Your one-way ticket to hell!
As she said these words, she stuck her hand in Tony's chest to extract his still vibrant heart and devour it...
She threw the body over the balustrade, closed her eyes and took a deep breath. It wasn't the first time she'd killed, but every time she felt the same: there was excitement, euphoria, a sense of accomplishment and finally sadness... She never escaped it, her morals caught her up, killing someone, even the worst of rotten things, was wrong.
However, she had no choice, as soon as she used the spider's powers, she had to provide it blood, otherwise it was her own life that would be sucked up, it was the pact, the curse...
When she opened her eyes again, her body had regained its human appearance, only remained on her chest a mark similar to a tattoo, a stigma as the books called it, and even this one would soon disappear since she had just fed the demon...
The calm was back in the forest, except the blood covering her hand, nothing else testified of the tragic event. She was sitting on the balustrade, the wind blowing gently on her bare legs... She sighed, regretting once again that she had forgotten to bring a change of clothes. She watched her bloody hand in the moonlight, thinking back to the face of her victim distorted by fear. A smile appeared on her face:
- Hmm! men... all the same, they play the bad boys but in the end, they end up imploring and crying like babies. »
Suddenly, she leaps on her feet, on the lookout. Something had changed, the atmosphere was heavier, the wind warmer, someone was approaching, someone powerful...
Then a voice broke the silence, a woman's voice, soft but firm and determined:
- - Lamb lost in darkness, you, who sow death and desolation, prepare to undergo divine punishment...
Then, emerging from the bowels of the forest, she appeared; the woman walked towards her with a decided step. Her clothes had all the attributes of a Catholic sister's outfit, the long black dress, the white cornet and the silver cross but the provocative cut that showed through her shapes was more reminiscent of a whore.
Arriving at the centre of the clearing, the sister stood still and pointing at Sarah exclaimed:
- Your evil deeds end here, creature of Satan!
Sarah immediately responded to the provocation, letting her rage against the newcomer flow:
- I knew you'd come, I can avenge my sisters whom you cowardly executed...
A grin appeared on the sister's face as she outbid:
- Because you think you can?
And without even waiting for an answer, she brandished a golden crucifix to heaven and invoked the power of God.
Sarah, powerless, felt the flames encircling her and her body burning. She let out a cry of pain before her conscience escaped her.
The sister had already turned the heels, certain of her victory and while moving away she whispered one last word:
- Amen.
