As Adriana starts her journey through Johto - the unique pokémon egg in her hands - she tries using pokétalking skills on the egg to figure out what pokémon it'll hatch into. After a fruitless investigation she started to look at some books of illustrations of pokémon eggs, when she trips and the egg goes flying through the air. Adriana prayed that it was a flying type pokémon and would hatch at that moment. As she feared the egg would crash on to the ground she instantly closed her eyes...

Buddy nudges Adriana to open her eyes. She starts to open her eyes wondering why she hadn't heard the egg crash together with having a good start in the journey. She started to focus on a hand returning her glasses (which fell together with the egg). After she put her glasses on she realizes it was her cousin, Ethan.

She later notices the pokémon egg in Ethan's arms and starts to cry in relief. "Don't cry Mini Rowen, I'll keep the egg safe." Ethan said which earned him a deadly glare from Adriana as he had used the nickname which she hated. As she wondered how he knew it wasn't her pokémon egg, Ethan answered her unspoken question. "There's a letter attached to the case and you were searching for an image of the egg in that book which means that it's likely that you won't see the egg hatch, Mini Rowen." Adriana takes a deep breath to calm herself. "What's the matter Mini Rowen?" Ethan asks in a teasing voice. Adriana snaps and starts charging at an Ethan who's smiling mischievously. She looks back and sees one of her worst fears...a beedrill.

She almost faints while she clings onto Ethan's back. "Have you forgiven me?" Ethan asks Adriana.

"Whatever, just safe me," Adriana pleaded.

"Are you going to stop teasing Professor Elm?" Ethan asks. Adriana just nods in the verge of tears. "Well done beedrill, now return to your pokéball." Ethan then takes out his Pokégear and calls Professor Elm and tells him, "all went to plan, her reaction was priceless." There was a chuckle from Professor Elm, "That'll teach Mini Rowen a lesson." Ethan turns the Pokégear so that it faces a furious Adriana who is being held by her top by Paz (Altaria). "We better hurry to split-route before you kill me and before Cyndaquil hatches." Ethan says.

"Hey... wait that's a Cyndaquil egg...oh, now it all makes sense," Adriana realizes as she puts two and two together.
