FEROX

We had been walking for hours now, Solis trotted by my side and on my other side was Sangius. He eyed the setting sun, "we are gonna have to camp here for tonight it seems."

He halted and I spun my head to face him.

"Right here in the open?"

"Do you have a better idea?"

"We go find shelter or a cave and rest there."

Ignis was insane.

"No. It'll take to long and we don't have the luxury of travelling at night so either here or no where."

I rolled my eyes.

"We won't have any cover, no where to hide in case of an attack and every one can see us."

He gave me a cold stare.

"We won't be lighting a fire so I suggest you shut your mouth, and sit your ass down."

I gave him another stare before I obliged.

"Do we have any food?"

I was starving, I hadn't eaten in ages.

"Yes."

A bag appeared out of no where.

"I pocket things in a gap between worlds, it is like a storage unit."

He dug around in it and handed me an apple. I snatched it off him and ate as fast as I could. I got out my sword and chopped a bit off for Solis.

"You know you could turn the sword into a knife to make it easier to carry and make the shield turn into a ring."

I stared at him.

"Why didn't you tell me this before?!"

I was pissed, I had been carrying the two things which were bloody heavy with no stop or rest along the way for hours.

"Building up muscle so your not weak when I train you."

I fixed him with a short glare and returned to my apple.

"So when is this 'training' gonna happen?"

"Soon."

He was getting high on my kill list rapidly as he continued to piss me off. The apple wasn't bad though, it was sweet, juicy and was not hard. If he hadn't of given me the apple I think I would have already tried to kill him. I fell on my back and looked at the evening sky. Solis licked my face and lied down next to me.

I closed my eyes and slept through the cold restless night. I woke up with my hair flicking in my face, the sky was clouded as the wind howled behind me. A cold hand pulled me up by the shirt, Solis growled and I looked up. Sangius left me to regain my balance and was walking away.

I regained my footing and ran over to where he was, a few meters ahead. When I reached him I looked to see his eyes were cold and dark unlike the other day. He talked loud enough so I could hear him over the wind but not loud enough to be heard. "We are being hunted."

That was all he said, every rustle that didn't come from me and Solis made him survey the area which was very often as the howling wind was causing a lot of it. I pointed it out to Sangius but he said he wasn't going to let his guard down, especially considering the situation that we were in. It was bothering me though about being hunted, I didn't know what was hunting us and why. "Why and what is hunting us?"

Sangius didn't turn to look at me and kept moving ahead without faltering.

"You are not the only one who has been sent here to do the trials."

The only one. Did that mean I wasn't the only one in this shit-hole? Would I know them? Why would they be hunting us? So many questions ran through my head.

"Why would they be hunting us? I mean wouldn't they want to team up with us through this mess?"

"So many questions. They would be hunting us to eliminate competition. You see the trials are meant to show what power you have. The sea trial is common for water powers, or any other powers to do with the sea. Forest is nature, earth powers or some other ones that go in that category. The Polar trial area is for ice, snow or whatever powers involving the polar area. The desert trial shows if you have one of the rarest powers of all, the fire power. The fire power overpowers all others and is the most deadliest of them all. It is very hard to master and if those who have it cannot control it, it can take over their bodies and minds. Your power shows in one trial, once it shows you don't have to do all the other ones but it is advised for training for the end challenge. The end challenge is when all chosen champions all fight for the right to go back to the real world. But there is a catch when you go back. You become an immortal, fae. Your power remains with you and you have to learn to control it and hide it from the mortal world. The top three go back to the mortal realm and the more competition gone the more likely chance you will go back. That is why the trials are so important."

It took a while to process everything he just said as my power was definitely nothing to do with the sea but there were other ones. I regret that day I made that stupid deal with that man, I wouldn't be in this mess if I hadn't of made that deal. I shut up for the rest of the journey but unlike the immortal bastered in front of me I couldn't walk forever. "I need a break."

My legs gave out beneath me and I collapsed to the ground. "We have to keep moving."

He turned to look at my pale face. I was basically getting sick. Really sick, if the hunters or the next trial didn't kill me, this will. I was cold all over my body as I curled into a ball and shivered. I closed my eyes and waited for my body to give way to death.

It didn't and when I woke up I was warm. Sangius just stared at me and i looked down the whole area of grass was gone and was nothing but dirt. I wore black garments now. A black belt hung around my waist with a spot for my sword to go into and my shield ring remained on. But the grass, I was confused about.

"What happened to the grass?"

Sangius remained silent. He was just watching me with an amazed look. "I accidentally set the ground on fire, I put it out but yea."

His eyes locked into mine.

SANGIUS

Ferox collapsed, her face turned an unhealthy shade of purple. She had hypothermia. She was on the ground curled in a ball shivering when she she closed her eyes. I grabbed a blanket from my bag and rushed over to her.I could see the shapes of the hunters popping up behind her. I stood ready to fight as they came up rushing behind her. Zac, the mentor who was a pain in my ass and we hated each other from the bottom of our souls.

He was a heartless murderer who killed for fun and tried to kill me for years. He had blood red hair, tan brown skin, red garments and he had deep blue eyes filled with a murderous calm. His young champion was a boy with blond hair, pale skin and grey eyes filled with fear. His clothes were the same as Zac's and followed behind him at a safe distance from all of his weapons. I felt a little bit sorry for the kid but knowing Zac he chose a strong person with a cunning mind. He poised his sword above her head and gave a cruel smile in my direction.

I rushed over to Ferox, he got his sword ready to decapitate her head when a strong burst of golden blue flames erupted from Ferox. Solis dragged me back another 2 meters just in time as the flames stopped in front of my feet. It formed a glow around her and I am sure that even Zac's magic couldn't protect him from what exploded out of her. after an our the flames disappeared and Ferox still lied unconscious in the centre.

All that was left of Zac and his champion was nothing more than ash. The ground was dirt as there was nothing left of the grass. she slowly woke and stared up at me. She was confused and had no idea of what just happened. I had only seen those flames once and that was the night her family died in that burning house.

Ferox had the deadliest power of them all, she had the fire power.

FEROX

Sangius still stared at her and Solis came rushing over to lick her face. "The hunters are gone."

It was my turn to stare. "What?"

"I got rid of them. We will rest here for the night and I can train you."

"What about the wind?"

"I'll put up a shield to block it."

I was still processing what he said about the hunters.

"So we are gonna start training?"

"Yes."

"After food and water."

He frowned. "What made you think I was going to give you food?"

"I'm hungry."

"What if I don't care."

"Well you better care because if I don't get anything now I am going to kill you and eat you myself."

"Well we don't want that happening do we? I'll get you a sandwich or something just shut up and sit down."
