“Are you going to just stand there or are you going to come in here and eat?” I hear Arron’s voice. I look up to see him placing a plate on the table. And just as I thought, it was eggs!
“Oh, should I go get dad?” I stand, from lending against the door frame.
“No, I cooked him something already.” He looks at me with his emerald eyes, his dirty blond hair is just long enough that is was almost hiding his eyes.
“Oh really?” I walk over to the table and I sit where the plate of food was, “Did he wake up early?” I grab the fork that was right beside the plate. Arron sits right across from me.
“I don’t think you realize what time it is.” he puts his elbow on the table then rests his cheek on his hand.
“No…Mind telling me.”
“It just turned noon.” One of his eyebrows lifts up.
My eyes grew wide, “I slept in?”
“Yea…but knowing that much, you must have had a dream. What was it this time?” He says in a kind of concerned tone.
“Nothing you would want to hear” I start to play with my food by moving the eggs from side to side on the plate.
“Come on, Try me.” He lifts his head up from laying it on his hand.
“Well, I had a dream about my first memory…the day Takeshi saved me…” I try not to make eye contact with Arron.
“Seems to me it’s more than that. Come on Ace, Tell me.”
I chuckle that stupid nickname. I look at him, “I just…I don’t remember anything before that. I want so bad to remember my past, you know, before I was five. Like who are my parents? Did I have siblings? I want to know how I got there in the first place. I want to know who I am.”
“Ace, you know who you are. You’re Amberly Jones, daughter of Shiro Jones, a vampire ambassador, you’re a straight-A student, you’re part of a disciplinary committee for a school made for humans and vampires. So don’t tell me you don’t know who you are!” Arron scolds me.
I laugh to myself, “Your brute is surprisingly comforting once again, and besides you’re part of that committee too.”
“Not by choice, I’m graduated from school, and yet I’m still going.” Arron rolls his eyes.
“Well, you know you can quit if you want…No one is stopping you but you.”
Arron chuckles, “And leave you behind? You may feel safe will vampires, but you never know when they will turn against you. I got to protect you when it does.”
Just that thought made me blush slightly, “I really don’t think that's going to happen. Besides if you are going for me, then don’t complain!” I shout a little when I said that, smiling as well.
Arron smiles, “Alright Ace.”
I’m surprised that Arron smiled. I don’t see him smile very much. It’s a very off chance to see him smile, a once in a lifetime opportunely really.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Arron gives me a confused look.
“I’m just admiring your smile, I don’t see you smile often. But it fills me up with joy to see you happy!” My words seem to hit him. He is shocked by my response.
“Wow...” He gets up from the chair and starts to walk away.
“Arron, wait.” I get up real fast and I hug him from behind, making him stop, “I want to help you, I want to make you see that you’re not alone. Please don’t push me away. You can hate me all you want, but I won’t leave your side, no matter what!” I lay my forehead on his back.
“I can never hate you…”He hangs his head down, “You remind me so much of her…”
“Who?” Is he talking about his mother or what?
Arron turns around to face me, “It’s nothing, don’t worry about it.” He hugs me tightly. Arron is taller than me so I was able to hear his heartbeat. It is beating so fast. I hug him back and it seems to help because his heart rate seems to calm down. He’s been through so much. He watched his parents die right in front of him and he was 9, so I can image it scarred him. Hints his hate towards Takeshi, and his hate for every living vampire. I just hope I can comfort him. I want him to open up to me so that I can help him.
I hear a knocking on the wall. Arron and I turn to see what it was. Arron glares once he figures out what it was.
“I’m sorry, I just came to say goodbye to Amberly.” Takeshi says. The atmosphere went from calming, too stressful.
“Oh…Well” I move in front of Arron, facing Takeshi, “Why don’t I…uh…lead you to the door..?” I grab one of Takeshi’s hand and leads him in the front room. I was hoping to get them away from each other. Arron just calmed down, I don’t want him to get rattled up again.
“You know it’s never a good idea for you and Arron to be in the same room together!” I feel very annoyed. I just can’t believe that I finally calmed down Arron for it to get interrupted by Takeshi coming into the room. I sigh. I can’t be mad at Takeshi, he isn’t the reason for what Arron’s going through.
“I’m sorry, but I got a call from my father. He requested for me. I want to say goodbye to you before I go.”
“When will I see you again?” I look straight into his eyes.
He puts his hand on my cheek, and kisses my forehead, “I’ll be here tomorrow after you come home from school.”
I smile, “Okay.”
“After Takeshi is gone you, Arron and I will go into town.” Shiro smiles as he walks up to me and Takeshi.
I nod at him, “I expect to see you tomorrow, Takeshi!” I smile at him.
He smiles back. He hugs me before he leads himself out the door. I watch as he leaves, “What do you think his father needs?”
“I have no idea” Shiro turns to me, “Maybe it’s because he missed him.” Shiro puts his hand on my shoulder, “Go get dressed and get Arron.” I nod my head. I start to walk towards my room. I pass the kitchen, but Arron wasn’t there. He must have gone to his room. I walk pass his door, but I stop.
“Maybe…I should check up on him.” I walk towards his door. I raise my hand up to knock. I sigh. Is it a good idea…? Should I? I want to help him…but… I knock on the door, but no response.
“Arron? Are you in there?” I put my hand on the doorknob and slowly turn it. I opened the door to see him sitting on his bed just staring at the gun that he had ever since he got here. I believe he told me it belonged to his mother before she died.
“What do you want?” He didn’t make eye contact with me but just stared that the gun.
“Well, we all are going to town, and I was just seeing if you are coming?” I walk up to him slowly.
“Is your little vampire boyfriend gone?” He scolds
“He’s not my boyfriend...And he just left…It’s just going to be Dad, you, and me!”
“Tck, fine…I’ll go but…uh.” He looks at me up and down, “You going like that?”
I look at my clothes and I’m still in my pajamas. ‘Hmm, that's why dad told me to get dressed’
“No, I’m not! I was just checking on you first!” I say in sort of a pouty voice. I stomp out of his room and into mine. I sigh. Arron can just be such a pain…but he is in pain…
It took me a few minutes, but I finally got dressed and walked in the front room. Arron was waiting by the front door, and Shiro was nowhere to be found in here.
“Arron, Where’s dad?” I walk up to him. He just stared at me. I snap my fingers in front of his face and he shakes his head a bit and looks at me.
“I’m sorry, what Ace?”
I roll my eyes, “Where is Dad?”
I get hugged from behind, “Daddy is right here!” He says in triumph.
All I can do is laugh, he’s always like this, He acts like the best friend in the whole world, but is an even better dad.
“I take it you’re both ready to go?” Shiro exclaims.
“Yea, Whatever” Arron opens the door and just walks out.
“Hey! Wait up!” Shiro runs after him.
I laugh. I shut the front door and lock it. After a while, we make it to town. It’s such a beautiful town. Flowers are planted everywhere, it’s all clean, and it seems like everyone seems to know… well, everyone.
“Here! Let’s go get something to eat” Shiro points to a little restaurant called Shi-Sha-Sho. It was a little Chinese restaurant. “How about it?” He asks in glee.
“Sure! I’d love too!” I say in excitement. I look at Arron waiting for a response.
Arron shrugs his shoulders, “Well why not?”
We make it in. It was a full house. I never seen it so full before. It’s amazing! A woman, who looks like a waiter, walks up to us, “Well, you guys are very lucky, we have one more table!” She has the brightest smile I’ve ever seen on everyone, and it’s hard to believe because Shiro is always smiling.
“Ma’am?” The woman was trying to get my attention. I look at her.
“Hmm?”
She smiles softly, “You kind of went out in space for a minute.”
“Oh. I’m sorry!” I smile nervously.
“It’s okay, you’re alright, Sweetheart!”
Everything becomes black and white and instead of the waiter standing in front of me, it was a completely different woman.
“W-Who are you?” I felt scared, but I wasn’t at the same time.
The woman smiled, “You’re alright, Sweetheart. Everything will be fine.” She bents down to me. I couldn’t see her eyes but she was crying…But instead of tears, it was blood. I can feel my heart pounding. Next thing I know I was running. Blood was surrounding me. I stop and fall to the ground. I cry, I have no idea what’s going on…but I’m scared.
