“You little punk I'll destroy you, I'll make you go through hell, just you wait! Just you wait!” Gretchen mumbled under her breath as she stormed off from the registration hall, cold glint dancing in her devilishly black eyes.
No one in the school had ever disrespected in such a way before. Actually daring to talk back when he was being corrected by her.
At the development of the events Juan was rather helpless, what in the hell had he done wrong to deserve such a treatment, he did not even know that student! In the end he just shrugged his shoulders and mumbled “Let it be then” a determination filled every pore of his very being, he practicaly survived hell, what did a mere class of pampered nobles stand for in his eyes? A cold smile bloomed on his face, it was a long while since someone managed to piss him off so much….
Speaking of which he had to find a way to block others from finding out his secret, Juan by no way wanted the mishap which occured with the Principal to take place ever again, it was a risk that he was not ready to take.
Johan was silently sizing this trouble magnet partner of his thinking that at least he had some capability. The newly baked partners silently made a way towards their dorm.
Bastian just watched their backs with unreadable expression, the playful light in his eyes however was brighter than it has ever been.
Only he knew what he was excited about. This was the first time in a while that he had actually found someone that deserved his time.
…
Once he was outside, Juan finally realized an important point! He was no longer in the same class as the person he was supposed to protect!
Juan was indeed part of the prestigious Louw clan, but he was merely a vassal who was given their last name. His main purpose was to protect Sheri di Valdios Louw, daughter of Duke Louw himself.
Nobles were constantly plotting against each other, trying to seize power by any means necessary, thus it was common for families to have vassal bodyguards with the same surname.
Juan told his predicament to Johann as they were walking. Johann once more slapped his forehead and sighed.
“You know, many bronze origin students would do anything to be in your position, and yet here you are scorning at the opportunity.”
Juan couldn't help but frown at Johann's statement. “Opportunity? Any fool who cherishes such an ‘opportunity’ is courting death. I value my life, so no thank you.”
Johann suddenly understood what Juan meant. This was a school of nobility, proud and scornful individuals. A mere vassal becoming the first bronze origin Violet class student? How could they let such a thing happen.
Nevertheless Juan had the Louw family behind his back, and they were not a powerhouse to be messed with. Especially considering that he had relations with Sheri, daughter of Duke Louw himself.
Information on Juan, his background and actions spread across the school campus like wildfire. Until yesterday no one knew he even existed outside of the Louw family itself. He wasn't a confidential secret, but rather which family did not recruit new vassals each year?
There was only one discrepancy which made the wiser nobles cautious. After some more investigation it was discovered that Sheri and Juan were the only people from the Louw family who came to the academy this year. Which means Sheri’s only vassal is Juan.
Usually one with such a role would have to be the body guard, not to mention they must be at least at the same level of enigma origin as the person they are protecting. Yet Juan was a level lower! What did this mean? It means that Juan must be at least as strong as Sheri, despite their difference in enigma origin.
Sheri was a unique powerhouse in that she could even give some gold enigma origin users a run for their money. Then what about Juan? This information, along with Juan's connection to the Louw family and his display against Antonio Alonso made him very mysterious.
The one thing humans feared the most in this world was uncertainty, this Juan was a source of trouble for the nobles, who valued hierarchy above anything else.
The first classes would be starting tomorrow morning, and Johann wanted to avoid the public eye as much as possible, thus he quickly ran to the dorms. Juan decided to take a tour of the school and memorize the layout of the campus, one never knows when such information comes in handy.
Once he felt he had sufficient understanding Juan went back to his dorm and starting sleeping the moment he made contact with his bed. Johann, who had been reading a book by the table within their room was flabbergasted at how calm his roommate was.
…
Early the next day, the first mandatory classes began for all freshmen. It was an exciting period for the youngsters, a new path in life toward their possibly glorious or disastrous futures.
The Violet class of the freshmen was headed by the head of the Beta division, Professor Thomas himself. The auditorium was large, housing a thousand students easily. With so many students doing a head count would be pointless, thus a system was in place. The badges that showed ones enigma origin also showed ones whereabouts, automatically reporting them to the system.
At some point only a handful of students were left. Thomas was standing with an expressionless face in front of over a 100 students. The Violet class was the most prominent, and also the the smallest class. Here only the most talented silver origin students were present, with a dozen or so gold origin students.
The seating order was also evident. There was no rule dictating where one should sit, but the front row had only gold origin students. No one in the class had any Intention of changing the status quo.
