I take my time and walk home, admiring the blue sky as I go.
[...]
I finally reach my home [Kogawa Residence].
"I'm home" I say as I go inside.
"Welcome home, Keito"
"Mom you wouldn't believe it—there's a new transfer student, I met her this morning"
"What's her name?" My mom replies.
"Aya"
"How was club today?" My mom asks.
"I showed Aya around today so I didn't go to club"
"I'm glad" She says.
"Huh?" I say.
"To see you happy, I'm glad that you're able to smile again"
"So, are you ready to go to the shrine?" I say.
"Give me a minute, I'll be right down" She says.
I wonder what would Mina think of Aya...
Would she have been like an onee-san to Mina?
Surely, Mina would call her onee-chan even if Aya insisted that onee-san would be fine.
"Keito—are you ready?"
I nod my head, and follow my mom outside.
I can see a slight smile on her face, just this makes me feel better. We arrive at the shrine, and a priest greets us as we enter the shrine. My mom has a short conversation with one of the priests, discussing arrangements for Mina's funeral.
We leave shortly after.
"That was quick" I say to my mom.
"It turns out they already heard of the news of Mina, so you can say they were sort of expecting us"
"Ahh, I see" I say.
We get home late, and have dinner.
After that we both pay our respects to Mina, at our personal shrine.
[This isn't goodbye, I'll miss you, Mina] I say to myself in prayer.
It would be nice to talk to someone before going to sleep,
The person who you love, talking till the later hours of the night until you both decide to go to bed—
I wonder what that feels like...
I close my eyes, and soon later, fall sound asleep.
