Chapter 4 – A Saddening Discovery
I am going through many emotions at the moment. I’m sorry if I misdirected you all. After continuing research on the latest memory; it has been found to only be 21% accurate. I can not verify what is true or false. However, the following account is one hundred percent true. This memory is something I call a Destructive memory (memories that are so dramatic and traumatizing they can not be faked or manipulated). Let us begin. Thank you for reading, and I hope you prepare yourself.
“Dad, dad, wake up. It’s been forty-eight hours since you went to sleep. Grandma went to the center of healing!!! It’s not looking good.” Hans continued to warn his father of the worsening of health of his grandmother. She had been sick for a very long time with an irreversible illness. As Hans had tears come down his face him mom ran into the room behind him.
“We have to go now!” Han’s mom screamed. They ran outside of there place of stay and began traveling to the center of healing. As they got closer and closer to the center of healing; the atmosphere grew dark. The air grew thick and the sense of sadness could be felt with each corridor they navigated. As Ezekiel and his family ran the thoughts reflected through his mind.
He recalled the days when he was little and his mom use to read to him every night. He remembered the day his father died and his mother held him for seventeen hours straight to comfort him. She had done everything she could to protect him. To give him a chance on this planet.
When they were only fifty feet away from her room. Ezekiel stopped! He fell to the ground out of exhaustion and fatigue. He told himself he would not go further to find his mother dead. As if time was moving at the slowest pace possible; He looked back at the last memory he had with his mom.
“Mom, I’m here. I brought you your favorite food. Space Kusinq. It’s cooked by the very best shelf!” As his mom looked at him with a very weak and confused look; she uttered the words that crushed his soul every time. “Excuse me sir, who are you?” “Mom, I’m your son. I’ve come to see you every day for the last fifteen years. Please remember me”
You see, this sweet old lady suffered from a memory lost disease. Unlike species found on the distant planet earth. This species relies on memories to survive. When the ability to remember weakens the body begins to have panic attacks from the inside. First, it’s felt in the heart, then the lungs, and finally the fear of death grows so strong the brain kills the body to relieve itself from stress. This was the sad struggle this sweet old lady faced every day.
Ezekiel did not allow this to happen without a fight. He hired many scientists to find a cure for this sweet old lady. He knew, as the eldest son of this sweet old lady, it was his responsibility to take care of her. He had worked every day for the last 15 years of his life to supply money for the operations.
At last, the day had come. Standing fifty feet away from his dying mother he could not move. However, when all hope seemed lost a special creature appeared out of nowhere with a proposition.
The creatures name was unknown. Not a single individual around had a memory of this creature. It did not matter though. He stood were all could see him. He spoke these words that could not be mistaken for the rest of time.
“I come from the Species that represent the Golden Scythe. We have watched this poor woman suffer from a distance. She has four minutes to live. I have decided, against the wishes of my master, to grant her immortality. There is only one catch. She will forever be a puppet. A creature that will be controlled by my master’s. If you accept this, she will live forever! If not, she will die. The decision is yours”
An entire crowd of people listened to the speech given by the creature. All eyes began to shift on Ezekiel. He had to make the ultimate decision. With tears in his eyes, he gathered himself. Looked the creature in the eye. Moved his lips. And said one word…!!
Omniscient hear again. I think it would be best if we stop the story here. I don't like what happens next. It's never easy retelling these memories. I'm a little tired now. I'll return another time and finish the story.
Memory finished….
