Chapter 4
The class was business and economic values.
Jinx put his head down on the desk because he already knew what the lesson was about.
The teacher walked in and started writing on the board, he only lifted his head enough to read what she wrote, analyze it, and put his head back down.
“Can anyone tell me what went wrong with this failed business?” Ms. Shelef said.
You could hear a pin drop.
Jinx heard her sigh and knew it was coming.
“Jinx? What d’you got?”
Cursing mentally, he lifted hi head with his eyes closed.
“The labor wages are way too low for that type of job. It’s factory work right? $9.50 an hour for factory work is going to make you lose people after only a few weeks. There are 150 workers and they put in around $80,000 a week for wages among their workers, most of them are getting $9.50 or less an hour.”
Jinx put his head back down.
“Exactly, but there are more issues with this company, got anything else?”
Was she hoping to stump him?
“Their distribution seems off. Most of the time, people are not getting their packages on the weekends right?”
“Indeed Jinx, they didn't have their truckers working on weekends much it seems.”
“That is super dumb, their customers don't want to be playing tag with the mailman.” He snorted.
“Uh what do you mean?”
“Most people work on weekdays right? They can't be at home when the mailman comes to deliver their package and no good mailman would put a possibly valuable package on the doorstep, since most of the time they need a signature. So they need to try to be there on time for the package but they need to work as well for their wages. That would upset customers and make them want to buy elsewhere.”
“Uhhhh…..”
“Plus, it seems that graph for buying product resources is an issue as well.”
He looked at the graph on the board.
“Normally in a growing business, you would see an increase in buying things needed to make the products, of course there is, but it stagnates and drops way too low at some points.” He explained.
“Where did that money go? I am assuming they changed whoever started doing the buying for their products and put in someone who likes cutting corners and ended up making the product not worth buying anymore. So of course the business failed, they tried to grow too fast and didn't cover everything. They got fast profits for a few months but ultimately didn't get stable income.” Jinx said while smirking.
He put his head down again as the teacher stared at the board.
