At last, the classes were over, and the students were free to go outside the Institute. Chris was preparing to go outside, when suddenly, a dark shadow approached his desk.
- So, newbie! Let’s get things clear – declared Vas, clearly trying to intimidate the new student – For the next week, if you don’t want to be bullied for good, you have to sacrifice your lunch to me!
- Wha-
- Common, Vas, not again! – Okami said, still packing his things.
- Yeah, you just like to pick on the weak, right? – Erik said, coming closer after hearing Vas’ threat – You did the same when I arrived some months ago!
- Oh, Erik, you should know, it’s very fun! For example, now you are not the weak anymore, so why not trying to come to the dark side? – tempted Vas.
- Uhm… you have a point there… - Erik was considering Vas’ proposal.
- Guys! – Okami tried to discourage his companions, but it wasn’t very effective.
- Move aside, Sakura-chan! – scorned Vas with a malicious grin in his face.
- Don’t call me that! – shouted Okami, not really angry at him, though.
- Ok, ok, guys, time to go! – Dave, holding Erik and Vas with one hand each, dragged them towards the door – We have business to attend at the skate park, so let’s go!
- Damn it! – said Vas – This time you win, newbie! Next time, you’re lunch will be mine, hahaha!
- Muahahaha! – Erik faked an evil laugh. “To make our exit funnier”, he thought.
Dave disappeared with the two ‘bullies’, while Okami stayed to laugh a little more.
- That Vas… the same bad joker! Please, don’t mind him, he’s not evil at all. He just… likes to have fun that way! – assured Okami.
- Is that so? Good to know… - Chris couldn’t help but feel a little anxious.
- Trust me, it’s fine – said Okami putting a hand on Chris’ shoulder - Everyone here is a little weird, but each one of them is a wonderful person. Just, give them some time and you’ll see!
- I’ll try my best, then – said Chris.
- Well, I have to go, so see you tomorrow! – Okami walked away but, after just three steps, he turned to Chris again – Ah, by the way, welcome to Heisen!”
- Thank you – replied Chris, waving his hand.
“He seems like some sort of comic character”, thought Chris looking at his classmate as he walked away. Once alone, Chris walked in the opposite direction to Okami’s. “Sigh, that was tiresome. I heard these guys were ‘special’, but I didn’t imagine nothing like this!” Chris was exhausted after his first day at school. It was full of surprises and ‘weird people’, as he considered his new companions. He thought it could be tough to be part of the group, but he was confident that was a task he could accomplish. He didn’t have any other options, after all.
