Sunday was the only day the students at Heisen had free of duties. Each one of them spent their only real free day doing the things they enjoyed the most. And, as usual, that day Erik, Sam, Ste and Vas were spending their time at Mellener Street’s skate park. It had an appearance of a ‘classic’ skate park, since it was located in one of the areas that was spared by the war. Somehow, it was seen as a place where drug addicts and drug dealers, gangs and all sort of dangerous people gathered, because of the appearances. Both the place and the young people that hang out there were very different from other skate parks, designed in a more modern and new look. So they had this stigma, even if the police was well aware that such traffics weren’t as much frequent as other places around the city. It was a clean and sunny day, and the students of Heisen were sitting together with some friends of Erik, Simon and Ferdinand.
- I’m so excited for the skating tournament of the next month! I’m pretty sure the VIP among the skaters are coming! – commented Simon, looking at some web site on his wrist phone.
- Yeah, everyone is talking about that! And they talk about you too, Erik! – said Ferdinand, hitting lightly Erik with his elbow – Everyone is expecting you to participate.
- I don’t know, guys. I’m not pretty sure I’m that good – said Erik, a little embarrassed – Besides, I don’t think I would be able to attend even if I want to…
- What? Why not? – Simon, also expecting his best friend to participate, couldn’t help but felt surprise for the news – It has been our dream to attend the tournament as contestants, even if just once! I’m not fully ready for this year, but you are capable for sure! Everyone around Berlin that rides a skate knows your name!
- Well, is not Erik’s fault, you know – intervened Sam – We have been notified some weeks ago about the preparation of a ‘summer camp’ we had to attend with the police all this summer.
- What? The whole summer?! – Simon and Ferdinand were both surprised for the news, then Simon kept asking – Why didn’t you tell me about that?
- I’ve asked my superiors to give me the authorization to attend the tournament, but they haven’t gave me an answer yet. I was waiting for it before talking to you guys. Sorry if I didn’t tell you before…
- I see, well, then let’s hope for the best! – Simon was somehow sad, but tried to be optimistic, trying to be like Erik in that sense.
- Yeah, we’ll have to train for three months! – Ste commented, thinking about the issue – I have to skip three whole months of badminton training! My old man it’s a little anger at Heisen for it, me as well. But can’t be helped, I guess.
- Contrary to you, I’m really looking forward to it! – Vas decided to participate as well to the conversation – I want to have full control of my powers! Also, I don’t dislike being a badass cop in the future!
- Ha! Said the one that playing the part of the ‘bad guy’ running from the police until not that much ago! – joked Ste, referring to Vas’ past.
- Hey, I’m a new man, you know! I’m a good guy now!
- Said the one picking on the new student, haha – this time was Sam to tell the joke.
After a good round of laughs, Ferdinand remembered something that wanted to share with the guys of Heisen.
- Oh, that’s right! I read somewhere in the net that they are developing some really good stuff at that Heisen! Some really cool futuristic stuff!
- Really? Like what? – asked Erik.
- Yeah, I’m curious too. It’s not like they tell us what are they researching or building in that place – said Sam.
- Well, listen me up. They say they’re planning to put on the market some interesting things, running thanks to that DunkelLicht energy, and among those things they said there are real hover boards!
- No way, really?! That’s awesome! – Simon was really excited by the news.
- Well, I guess is true. They made this one right here for me, after all – Erik showed his board, that even if it was called ‘hover board’, had still wheels on it like any normal skate – So they’re planning to sell these, uh?
- But how are normal people going to use those? – asked Vas – Erik is able to made that thing fly because of his power. And even with powers, none of us were able to use it. I made explode a prototype of those skates, for example. I couldn’t stop laughing afterwards, haha!
- Well, the leaked news are not exactly exhaustive regarding the details, but I think it will be possible even for us commoners to use those! – said Ferdinand.
Kaboom! While Erik and his friends were talking, a huge explosion was heard all over the park, echoing for many kilometers. Near to where they were, it was visible column of dark smoke. Without thinking twice, Erik jumped on his skateboard and, using his powers, flew over the park in the direction of the incident. “Sorry, we have to go!”, Sam said to his two skater friends as he, Ste and Vas rushed following Erik’s trail.
