"She's the one I deceived, isn't she?" Thomas said turning to Mackenzie, using is thumb to point towards her.
"Isaac I deceived her." Thomas said, slightly tipsy.
Isaac glared at Thomas. His face reddened as he grew angry.
"I think it's time you left Thomas." Isaac sternly said.
Thomas pouted as he turned to Grace who was very confused.
"What's your name love?" Thomas asked.
Grace looked at Mackenzie, then back at Thomas.
"Grace..." she answered.
Thomas took Graces hand from the table and gently kissed the back of her hand.
"I am so sorry to hear about Freddie. Mackenzie told me all about it." Thomas said, looking deeply into Graces eyes.
"Thank you." Grace answered, her hand still being held by Thomas.
"Now I want you to hate Isaac for taking Freddies place in your friendship group." He said, making Grace fall into a hypnotic trance.
"Thomas, what are you doing?!" Isaac whispered, trying not to attract any attention from everyone else around them.
Thomas ignored Isaac, continuing to play with Graces mind. "You also hate that he's taking your bestfriend away from you."
"That's enough!" Mackenzie yelled, stepping up to separate Thomas' hand from Graces.
Grace looked up at Mackenzie, then to Isaac, giving him a look of disgust.
The waitress arrived with Mackenzie, Grace and Isaac's food.
"I'm sorry sir, did you order food too?" The lady kindly asked Thomas.
Thomas tilted his head to the side and smiled at the women.
"When do you finish work." He asked.
"My shift ends at 9." She answered with a smile.
Thomas glanced down at his watch that read 8:00, then grabbed the waitresses hand staring deeply into her eyes.
"You want to meet me after your shift, out the back of this restaurant." Thomas said.
"Hey, why don't we meet after my shift at the back of the restaurant." The waitress said.
Thomas ran his tongue over his bottom lip as he smiled in delight.
"That is the best suggestion I've ever heard. Of course I will." Thomas said smiling at the waitress. "Oh and I'll have a scotch." He said, letting go of the ladies hand.
She rushed off to retrieve the drink while Grace stared at Thomas in disbelief.
"Are you some sort of magician?" Grace asked in shock.
Mackenzie rolled her eyes. This wasn't how this night was supposed to play out. She looked over at Isaac who seemed very concerned, making her nervous.
"Yeah, you wanna see a magic trick?" Thomas asked.
Grace eagerly nodded her head, unaware that the man she was talking to was the person that murdered Freddie.
"I can make you forget things." He began. "I'm gonna say something, then you're going to tell me if you remember what I said, alright?" Thomas chuckled.
The waitress came back with Thomas' scotch and he gave her a warm smile, then returned to Grace.
"Okay what did I say?" Thomas asked.
Grace looked at Mackenzie as she furrowed her eyebrows.
"You just smiled at the waitress..." Grace replied
"ERRR, wrong!" Thomas sang as he lied to Grace. "I said thank you to her" He smirked.
Graces eyes widened in shock as her mouth opened in awe. Mackenzie rolled her eyes. She couldn't believe that Grace was falling for Thomas' act.
"Okay I think that's enough fun for one night, Grace we need to get going." Mackenzie said, neither of them had touched their food.
Thomas looked up at Mackenzie, gently pushing her back down into her seat.
Isaac got the attention of one of the waiters.
"Hi sorry, could we get the bill?" He asked.
"Yes of course." The waiter replied, he handed the bill to Isaac and turned to leave but Thomas grabbed him.
"This meal should be on the house." Thomas said, letting go of the waiters hand as a smile formed on the waiters face.
"You know what? This meals on the house." He cheerfully said, taking the bill from Isaacs hand and left to continue working.
"You do know that's stealing." Mackenzie sternly said.
"No way! That's so cool." Grace exclaimed.
"I like you." Thomas snuggly said to Grace. He had won Grace over.
"Alright, time to go." Mackenzie said, getting up from her seat.
She shimmied past Thomas then She, Grace and Isaac went outside.
The crisp air hit Mackenzie's warm skin , making her pull her coat closer to her body. The goosebumps raised on her arms as her teeth chattered.
"Grace would you mind giving me a moment to talk to Mackenzie?" Isaac asked Grace.
Grace looked at Isaac, her nostrils flaring due to the hatred she was deceived to feel for him. She let out a huff, nodding her head.
Mackenzie gave Grace her car keys so that she could wait in her car, then she left, leaving Mackenzie and Isaac alone.
This wasn't how Mackenzie had planned to ask Isaac about Thomas. She didn't have much time to ask him all the questions that she had so she stuck to the most important.
"I think I know what you're going to ask me and I want to ask you the same thing." Mackenzie began, scooping her hair behind her hair. "How do you know Thomas?" She asked.
Isaac glanced in through the restaurant window to see Thomas having another drink. He turned back to face Mackenzie as he tried to imagine what was going on in her head right now. He didn't want to lie to her but he couldn't tell her the truth.
"He used to work for my father. What about you?" He asked already knowing the answer.
Ever since Mackenzie told Isaac about her friend being attacked by an animal, Isaac instantly knew that it was Thomas. That was how Mackenzie knew him.
Mackenzie bit her tongue. Ready to tell Isaac what Thomas did.
"Obviously you know what Thomas is and what he did to Grace tonight." Mackenzie began. Isaac mouth went dry. Mackenzie knew about vampires? But how? Didn't Isaac deceive her to forget him?! What if she exposed their existence! History could repeat itself.
Isaac gave Mackenzie a nod, acting calm. "Well, Thomas was the one that killed Freddie, not an animal."
Isaac paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts. Of course Mackenzie wouldn't say anything. If she wanted to, she probably would have said something by now.
"I'm so sorry." Isaac said, pulling Mackenzie into a hug. He looked over Mackenzie's shoulder and into the restaurant again to see Thomas watching them.
Isaac leaned down to Mackenzie's ear and whispered. "I think he's listening to us, let's talk about this at your house tomorrow." He said pulling away from the hug to look at Mackenzie. "That's if your still up for helping me catch up with my work." He smiled.
A grin formed on Mackenzie's face as the thoughts of Freddie left her mind.
"Of course!" She exclaimed.
"Great. I'll see you tomorrow." He said, placing a soft kiss on her soft, rosy cheek.
Mackenzie held her breath as she looked up at Isaac. Her cheeks blushed as she stared into his green eyes. He really was beautiful.
"Goodnight Isaac." She quietly said.
"Night Mackenzie." He smiled, turning away and leaving to go back to his car.
Mackenzie walked back to her car. She couldn't stop smiling. She got into the drivers seat and took off home as Grace ranted on about how much she hated Isaac.
"I mean, does he really think he can take you away from me?!" Grace exasperated.
Mackenzie was barely listening. Her thoughts were preoccupied with the excitement of tomorrow.
She dropped Grace off, then returned home. Jason was still at work making the house eerily quiet as Mackenzie went to her room to get ready for bed.
Mackenzie walked towards her mirror.
Her heart fluttered as she placed her hand on the cheek that Isaac kissed.
A squeal of excitement left her lips as she smiled at herself in the mirror. She was excited to see him tomorrow again. She climbed into bed and closed her eyes, wishing for sleep to come fast in hopes that tomorrow would come a little quicker.
