She leaned forward, not believing what he just said. Everything he was saying about what Re:Births were was new to her. No one had explained anything but just allowed her to continue on with her job of taking care of the anguished souls who carried a message.
She allowed them to possess her body and travel where they need to be. This possession could last all night, taking the energy away from her body which caused her to be endlessly tired. Each night, as she laid down for a couple of hours of sleep before school started, she thought she was alone. Working the same job night after night.
“Oh yeah! Life and Death in the flesh and let me tell you- these people are the weirdest folks you will ever meet!” he laughed, “And don’t let me get into the Re:Birth- emotions.” He shook his head and she smiled, pulling her arm onto the desk and rested her chin on the palm of her hand.
“You know for someone who appears exhausted, you sure do have a pretty smile.” He noted and she awed. That was the first time someone had complimented her. Normally people were pitching insults at her for having bags under her eyes.
“Do you have anywhere to go after this?” he asked and she shook her head, exhaling.
“Then we can go to Marriel! You’ve been there right?”
She nodded her head. Marriel was the world that was unlike the human one. It was a place where magic thrived, dragons flew, and witches were real. The man in white called it a “reward” for helping them.
