"Well that was pretty crazy," Eunji said. "What a terrible guy, I wanted to slap him across the face!"
"It was crazy," I agreed. Never had I been asked out in such a verbal and violent manner. Not only that, but to think that the whole school witnessed this event. Why did it have to be me out of all people?
I rubbed my hands against my sore wrist. The skin was still red and tingly from his grip. "Who was he anyways? I've never seen him before."
"Jinwoo Kim," she immediately answered. "Second year basketball player. He's quite popular with girls and has the reputation of cheating and playing around. His family owns a construction company so he's equipped with money as well."
Good thing I have Eunji to spill all the information. Though historical facts did not sit well with her brain, she was strangely great at remembering gossip.
"Well," I began. "I guess that explains some of the problems with his personality."
Eunji firmly nodded. "Yeah, he is very problematic. I knew he was bad, but now I absolutely hate him." Then she raised her index finger up to the air, drawing attention to herself. "After all, who the hell does he think he is? Is he that thick-headed? To the point of reacting to rejection in such a terrible way? If I were him, I would've expected it. His words were so cringe-worthy."
A chuckle escaped my lips. The over-dramatics of Eunji's speech lightened up my mood. "His words really were cringey."
"Exactly!" Eunji said. "He was totally trying to suck up to you, especially when he said that you 'blessed the eyes of the people around you'. My fingers curled up when I heard that."
I nodded. "It's a nice compliment, but his deliverance was off. Not to mention how arrogant he was."
"One hundred percent agreed." Eunji finally calmed down and brought her arms to her side. "Well, at least that's all over now. I'm just glad you aren't brewing in anger, he's not worth your attention."
"He isn't," I agreed.
Although the way this Jinwoo guy acted made me mad, there was no point in me spewing hate. He'd already embarrassed himself in front of the whole school by acting in such a crude manner. I was more than satisfied with that outcome. Now, everyone knew how impulsive and rude he was, his true personality coming to light. Ha! Instant karma.
However, the deep-gutted feeling in my stomach continued to linger, and I knew that this would not be the end of the confessions. I was not oblivious to the loving fans in the crowd. Jinwoo was one of the many boys who'd fallen for my looks. Even without Yoon and Eunji by my side, I would have to be able to handle rejecting on my own.
This was a task I was not prepared for.
I picked up a leftover piece of meat with my chopsticks before shoving it into my mouth. With my hand over my mouth to cover the half-eaten food, I proceeded to talk. "Another question: are guys usually like that when asking out a girl?"
For me to prepare for the next one, I had to know what the average confession was like. Though I had a general idea, I wanted to confirm it.
Eunji shook her head. "Nope. He was an asshole. There are a lot of guys who are really nice about it, taking in rejection nicely."
Well, the unfortunate problem about my situation was that most guys would only ask me out due to my looks. I doubted many would be on the nicer side. This made me wonder if I'd ever find someone to love. Sometimes, I can't help but hate romance. Was true love something that truly existed or was it just a fantasy sold in media?
I sighed. "I wonder if I'll ever find a nice guy."
"You will! You just have to look in the right places. For example..." She sent me a wink. "Among your friends or people who generally have a nice personality."
I shook my head. Never mind. "Finding a guy is too hard, I think I'll just stay single for the rest of my life."
"Fantastic idea!" Eunji exclaimed. She stuck her tongue out at Yoon. "You should just stay single for the rest of your life as well."
"Fuck you," he growled.
She batted her eyelashes, while placing her hands against her cheeks cutely. Then she sent him an air kiss. "Love you too."

By the end of school, word had traveled around the school.
Poor Boy Gets Rejected by Me: A Tragic Tale. The story of my newfound beauty, and 'hard to get' demeanor has struck in the minds of the students.
The apparent 'unfortunate' side of all this was that the boys were now scared to reach out to me. Perhaps, they believed their fates would be similar. This was a great decision on their part because it was true - I was going to reject each and every single one of them.
To avoid misunderstandings I had to state that I didn't want to be single forever. It was more of the fact that I hated shallow dating. In my eyes, there was no point in going out with a stranger who'd only asked me out due to physical attraction. I wanted them to like me as a person. Was that too much to ask?
Before becoming pretty, little to none of the opposite gender made an effort to talk to me. It was only now to which I was getting attention. So the whole ordeal with the boys left a sour taste in my mouth since I've experienced both ends of the spectrum.
Imagine. You're a regular looking student who barely talks to the opposite gender other than your friends and classmates. Sometimes you have a rare boy hitting on you, but most of the time you are the person listening to other people talk about their love stories.
Suddenly, after a freak accident, you become pretty and all the boys become ultra nice, make the effort to talk to you, and have 'feelings' for you.
It's weird! It's shallow! And it makes you feel terrible since you realize how unattractive you were before.
Not only that, but even people who aren't romantically interested are being nicer to me as well. Moving out of the way for me to walk, suddenly clapping after a shit speech, and their gentle tones.
The only people I could trust right now were my friends who stayed true to me even before this incident.
"You ready to leave?"
Yoon leaned against the corner of my desk with his hands in his pockets. His tall figure loomed over me.
"Almost." I took my pencil case from my desk and wedged it between the large textbooks and other school materials in my bag. Then, I quickly zipped up my bag. "Done."
"Alright, let's go," Yoon said.
After school, our crew decided to eat at a famous Dokbokki (Spicy rice cake) shop near our school. It was a rare occasion for our trio to go there as it was always packed with rumbling students, but - I was craving it badly. Like real badly. I couldn't wait to have the spicy cheesy combination of goodness in my mouth.
My eyebrows furrowed when I noticed a certain presence missing. "Where is Eunji?"
"Eunji? She's right her-," Yoon began but cut himself off upon realization. His expression mirrored mine once he noticed her gone. Yoon quickly scanned the class, trying to find the blonde haired girl. Luckily, the bright strands on her head made it easy for us to locate her whereabouts. Eunji was conversing with some peers at the front of the classroom.
I laughed. "Look at our group's one and only social butterfly go."
"More like a freaking mosquito," Yoon muttered under his breath. He gently held onto my wrist. "Let's go catch her."
Once we made our way, I tapped Eunji on the shoulder. Her mid length hair swirled as she turned her head back to face me. The knife-like strands of hair almost hit me, but with my ultra fast reflexes I barely avoided getting hit.
Eunji didn't notice my hateful encounter with her hair.
"Are we leaving now?"
Yoon nodded. "Yup. Hurry up."
Eunji shot him a stink eye before waving goodbye to her friends.
"Ah e-excuse me Minha."
Just before I could exit the door, one of Eunji's friends, Jihee, had called out to me. Though she was a student in my class, I had never talked to her before. There was a nervous smile on her face, almost as if she was scared to talk to me. Was I intimidating or something?
"Yeah?"
Jihee gulped. "Well, um, I just wanted to say you were really cool today and that the guy was a total asshole!"
I sent her a smile. "Thanks."
The girl beside of her also spoke out. "Good thing that his true colors are exposed. Now he's part of every girl's blacklist. I doubt he'd be dating anyone from our school anytime soon."
Well, at least there was one good thing that came from that whole event. The rumors prevented girls from getting their hearts broken in the future.
Hm. Maybe it isn't so bad being pretty after all.
