Over the course of the next few weeks, Sara posted a video a day, and sometimes up to three videos in one day. Her views didn't go up other than the initial increase because of her incredible posting schedule, they seemed to even out at around fifty to seventy views. It seemed that most of her viewers weren't even the ones that were watching her and that most of her views were from people just passing by.
The comments weren't any better, she had to go in on a few people that "stepped out of line", as she put it. If there was anything good about the situation, it would be the fact that she got to abuse people online. And, she got to keep the moral high ground no matter how bad she spoke to them as they were the ones that came to her video's first and began leaving hate filled comments.
She ended up in a three day "battle" with one person, replying with sarcastic and snide remarks to the other's jeering and hateful comments. It became a game to her at one point, she wouldn't stop replying until the other had, and even when they had, sometimes she would keep posting just to mock them. It wasn't very nice and it wasn't very lady like, but it made her feel better. Another thing she would often do, was to do the opposite as the other person. If they cursed a lot, she would change up her battle style and to be more eloquent, even going so far as to look up larger and smarter sounding words online. She would comment arrogantly on their grammar and talk down to them. She wouldn't curse them, instead choosing to insult their "meager" intellect by stating that their vocabulary was lacking as evidenced by the fact that they couldn't express themselves without throwing out offensive and crude language.
During this time, she even had a few people say that they hated her videos, but loved reading her fight online with others and had only followed her to be able to read their arguments.
While she had fun for a while, after a few weeks passed and she was only able to barely break into a hundred followers, she began to wonder about her tactics.
She tried vlogging, ranting, pranking, education videos, simple everyday life hack videos…nothing seemed to be working for her at all. She would have tried gaming videos, if she could afford the expensive VR gaming equipment….
She might have tried beauty videos, but she…didn't really have the looks for that. She might not be considered ugly but she was no beauty by any means. Her skin wasn't the worst that people had probably seen, but it wasn't as clear as most people you saw in the top rankings. Her eyes were a little big for her face and her nose bridge was high and prominent. Her hair was long, but she had never really been able to do much with it, other than straitening it every once in a while, but that just seemed to accent her forehead due to her hair's natural cow lick in the front. Her forehead wasn't bigger than other's, but her cow lick made it seem that way. That and her hair was a light blonde. Where it started and her forehead stopped was kinda ambiguous. Her eyes were a blue green, but neither the blue, nor the green really popped, they both seemed kinda…meh. At least to her. Her figure wasn't bad, she wasn't fat, nor was she super skinny. It was average. She was pretty much all around average.
Sara sat in front of their T.V. watching the latest episode of "A Queens Game." It was a very popular show on television recently. The Actors and Actresses in it were known to be good looking and the story line wasn't bad at all, in fact it had won many awards for its character development and storyline. Those starring in it were unknown actors and actresses before, but had shot to fame in recent years due to the show. Each had gone up at least one rank, but many had gone up two, and the female lead had gone up three.
The show was reaching the conclusion as Sara heard the front door open. She didn't glance over as her father walked through the door and shut it quietly behind him.
He took his shoes off and walked toward the kitchen.
Sara heard the fridge open and her dad pouring himself a drink. He didn't usually drink alcohol unless he was celebrating, or stressed out. Sara paused the T.V. and listened.
Her dad came walking out of the kitchen with a glass of beer in his hand. She had been told at school that was strange; that most people didn't pour their beer into a glass and instead preferred to drink it straight out of the bottle.
Her dad stood next to the table, staring off into space, not talking. Thinking.
Sara waited to see if he would tell her what was wrong.
Her father didn't keep her waiting for long.
"Your mother is being held over for a while. There was an issue with some of the books in the office."
Sara nodded, but didn't say anything.
Her father continued.
"It's mostly a precaution; your mother is one of the people that work in the office, so they want to investigate her along with everyone else."
Sara furrowed her brows.
"How long will they keep her for?"
Her father shrugged. "As long as it takes to get to the bottom of it. They might keep her for a few hours…or longer."
Sara, still not understanding, shook her head. "Wait, what's the maximum that they can keep her? What if the issue isn't with the workers and is instead with someone higher up?"
Her father shook his head, noncommittally. He sat at the table and continued to drink his beer.
Sara sat on the couch for a few more moments, then stood and returned to her room.
She decided to post a video about her mother's situation. Maybe, it'll help her raise her fame. If that happened, then maybe that could help get her mother out of the situation she was in.
Unfortunately, this situation was really common in the general population. After her video had been up for a few days, the majority of the comments were people talking about other, more ridiculous cases that people had been taken into custody for. Then, there were the "haters". They seemed to want to do nothing but fight with her.
Once she gave them what they wanted, they began to criticize her saying that if she was really worried about her mom, maybe she would actually be trying to do something about it, rather than arguing with people online. Sara wanted to argue against them, but found that….they might have been right.
She hadn't been very worried about her mom when she posted the video. Hell, by the second and third day she was still not too worried. But…it'd been almost a week by this point. She really was starting to wonder if her mother would be okay.
So, Sara, stirred by the comments online, decided to try to do just that. She decided to go out and try to find a way to help her mother. She knew that her mother would be kept somewhere else, but the investigation was being handled by the F.R.I. Federal Revenue Institute. So, she decided to head down there and start asking some questions. She grabbed her phone and a backup video camera, just in case they took her phone after she refused to stop filming.
If she was being honest with herself, she wasn't really doing this because she was worried about her mother. Really, she just kept picturing people watching her video after doubting her worry for her mother. Kept thinking about how they would be eating their words once she was able to upload that footage of her storming the office.
Of course….things don't always go as planned, which Sara was about to find out in a very, very painful way....
