The nighttime arrived and Berlin wore all the wonderful lights that showed how much this city was alive. Even Monday was a lively day on this city at night, so Erik and his friends were surrounded by many people at the fast food of their choice, “Burger’s Corner”. After everyone sat down with their own hamburger, Sam decided to take the initiative to recap what were they discoveries about the case of ‘Lamb Head’, as they decided to call the criminal covering his head with a stuffed animal’s head.
- So, so far we know Brauer has a reason to attack the toy factory. Also, his house was totally destroyed and the news said it was a gas explosion that happened just about three weeks ago – Sam took a break to give another bite to his meal. He took sip of his soda and then moved on – Then we met this girl, Margarete Kaplan, but she refused to answer any questions.
- Geez, she even threatened us to call the police after we declared to be from the police! – commented Ste, still annoyed by the unwanted meeting with the designer.
- Anyway – continued Sam - that makes me think she’s indeed culprit of the accusations of stealing Brauer’s designs; otherwise, she’s just annoyed of being accused for that. Best case scenario would be to talk to this man, but if he’s the responsible for the attack, I guess it’s not going to be an easy task.
- Well, I have already a plan, you know! – said Vas after giving the final bite to his burger.
- And what is it? – asked Erik.
- We’re going to keep an eye around that girl for a while, since I’m pretty sure that she’s the target of that criminal– affirmed Vas.
- Are you sure, man? – Ste, though, wasn’t pretty much convinced – After all, he attacked the building itself, not only the girl. Wouldn’t be easier to attack her at home?
- We know Kaplan was there when the incident happened – remembered Sam – so I guess she could be his target after all. But then, how we know when is going to attack? He surely believes the police is searching for him, even if actually there is no official investigative team at work, beside us.
- If I were he, I would probably attack as soon as I can – said Vas, then explained – Sam’s attacks were effective on him, so now he’s quite only because he needs time to recover. Fighting him I could understand that he’s quite the emotionally unstable person, so as soon as he can he will try again to take his revenge.
- I’m with Vas in this theory – said Erik – By looking at his burnt house and by the incredible force that stroke me the other day, I’m sure he draws strength from his strong negative emotions.
- Wait right there, everyone! – Ste rose his hands to stop the others for a moment – Are you telling me WE need to stalk that gal all the day until that freaking maniac shows up?
- You got it right, man – simply answered Vas to his friend.
- You know we have classes tomorrow morning, right? – continued Ste – We can’t just miss some days all four of us, it will be obvious we’re up to something!
- Yeah, I guess so – said Vas.
- So – Sam, having an idea, immediately shared it with the others – I suggest we skip lessons one at a time per day to make sure the designer is fine, then after school another one change places with the first and so on. In that way, one of us will be close to her for all the day.
- Nice idea, Sam! – Erik clapped his hands.
- Then it’s decided – said Vas – Now, I guess we have to talk about the turns, right?
Tuesday started at Heisen with math, one of the most boring classes for the few students of this Institute. Ms. Beatrice Bechtold, teacher of this subject, noticed how only one them seemed to enjoy it was Chris, the new student. She also noticed how one the students, Samuel Keller, was absent from class. She asked to the students if they knew about Samuel’s whereabouts, and after receiving a negative answer, she decided to pay no mind to it and start lessons.
Meanwhile, somewhere else near central Berlin, Margarete Kaplan was going around with two friends, doing shopping. Sam was some meters behind them, stalking the women with a little sense of disgust. “I feel like a pervert… But it cannot be help, if we want to capture that criminal”, he thought. He spent the whole morning doing so, following Margarete everywhere she went. Eventually, the afternoon arrived and finally he could meet with Erik, who changed roles with him. Nothing changed until night, then Ste took the turn to guard over Margarete’s house. Between midnight and dawn, Vas watched over the house, still nothing new happened. Next day, Wednesday, was Stephan’s turn to keep an eye on Margarete, and so on. The day ended and nothing new happened, then Thursday ended and nothing happened as well. It was Friday afternoon when the four students reunited in a park near to Margarete’s house.
- I can’t do this anymore, the boredom is killing me! – lamented Ste – I want back my life!
- Don’t worry, he will show up tonight, I’m pretty sure of it! – affirmed Vas.
- How are you so sure? – asked Erik.
- Uhm… Intuition, I guess!
Even if they weren’t sure of “Vas’ Intuition”, the four decided to take places around the house for one last night. They hide in many places so there will be a higher chance to surround and capture the criminal with the lamb’s head. It was around eight o’clock, minutes after Margarete returned home, when a suspicious shadow got closer to the house. The four students of Heisen discerned without doubt it was the person they were waiting for. “Dammit! I lost my lunch again!”, thought Ste disheartened. “I probably shouldn’t bet with Vas anymore”
