Once upon a time, in a country not so far, a girl named Cera would be
A cat and a father, a town small, and close to the sea
No mother, no friends, she was alone there, no one else to see
To high school she went, and could endlessly read, her room in blues and greens
Cera would sing endlessly, besides her cat nobody ever knew.
If her father was to find out, who knows what he would do!
The outcome would not be good, to the streets she’d be shooed
Disown her for that beautiful voice, his hatred through and through.
Whatever she did, efforts so many, he would never smile
Even in evenings when home he came to, swaying all the while
His mistress the bottle wasn’t even enough to go the extra mile
In his bed he’d ask her, he missed her mother, crying in an act of denial
Then through town came a stranger, her interest would peak
Asking her along to the fair, on his face a smile big and friendly
She liked his advances, her future seeming no longer so bleak
He promised her happiness and took her hand gently
She followed the man, her eyes full of stars
For the maiden he seemed like he was the answer
To all her sadness, her internal wars
He’d take her to heaven on his mighty roadster
Her father struck with grief, losing both of his loves
Took to drinking even further, but she didn’t think it a loss
She was away to better places, her heart fluttering like doves
But she could not see the future, but this man couldn’t be cross
Cera was flying on a cloud of wonders
For this fair was her first and the man was so bright
Floating on the wind with love and forevers
But something was wrong with her so shiny knight
His fingers neat and tidy, and a waist thin
He seemed neither a warrior, nor bad natured at all
But Cera’s eyes were put off by something in that grin
She started thinking, and when she asked it grew small
“I have a secret, dear, that you don’t want to know”
joked he, taking her hand with a loving hold
“If you keep on asking, our love might never grow
And it will be alone if we’d ever get old”
But Cera would ask every hour, every day
for a whole month straight, to the man’s discontent
Returning a no so often, he finally gave in and had his say
Cera’s eyes grew wide and to his words she bent
“My love I have to confess
Since so often you have wondered
That I was born to wear a dress
But no lie to you have I offered”
Cera shook her head in disbelief, and looked at him stern
“I cannot believe your secret, but everything it does explain,
but on the fair you took in my heart completely, it’s not my concern”
And she kissed her love unconditionally, and so it would remain
