Ever since I had that experience with the Squealer, I’ve been having bizarre dreams. I know that people tend to have bizarre dreams, but these dreams are absolutely freaky. It started with a dream of me being chained down to the ground, and ice cream truck was repeatedly running over my legs. I woke up relieved it was dream. I had another dream where I was back in those woods, standing before the Squealer. It looked down at me like a deity looking down at its subject. It then clawed my eyes out. That’s when I woke up.
Now, let me explain the dream I had lately. This is the dream that’s actually important to today’s story, so listen up. I hate spiders. That’s understandable. I don’t know a lot of people who like spiders. In this dream, I was with Ivers in the woods. I don’t remember exactly why we were in there, but it was something important. Before we knew it, we were overwhelmed with these tiny, mutated spiders.
They rushed towards us like a roaring fire. There had to have been thousands, maybe millions. They crawled over us, covering our body. I could feel the tiny pricks of their bites on my skin. We frantically tried to brush off the little demons, but there were just too many. That’s when this giant spider came out of nowhere. This spider was huge. I’m not talking about tarantula huge. This spider easily had the size of car. Something was wrong though. It didn’t look like a spider. Before I could finish my panicked analysis, I woke up safe and sound in my bed.
I brushed it off as just a dream. The only thing that still bothers me about anything now is what Squealer said. He is an Anomaly. Not just that, but there are more of these Anomalies. I was also bothered about how unphased people were about these situations.
It was a slow day at the office. That was until received a call. A man reported that he was walking his dog when a “giant bug thing” rushed out of the nearby woods, and dragged his dog into them. The man on the phone sounded absolutely shaken. I sincerely hoped it was an act, but unfortunately, it wasn’t. Ivers demanded that I go with him on this. This surprised me. Ivers had never shown any signs of trusting me. The fact that he wanted me to go with him was a huge gesture.
We arrived to the scene. The man was sitting in his car crying. I can’t blame him. A pet is like family, and I know all too well about losing family. Ivers and I head into the woods to see if we could spot the dog. Ivers insisted that we not go too deep in the woods. We decided we would go, at most, 30 meters into the woods. That’s when we heard quick steps. We heard the quick steps of something.
The way it sounded, it sounded like it wasn’t a person. Whatever it was, it definitely had more than two legs, so a human was automatically off the list. Ivers suggested that it may be the dog. He began clapping his hands and whistling, as if trying to lure the dog. That’s when the step became closer and more rapid. I quickly turned back to see the man who was once crying in his car was gone. When I turned back, I saw Ivers being tossed back.
It was so quick. I don’t think that Ivers or myself knew what happened. We both looked up to see this giant creature. At first glance, it looked like some sort of alien. However, at a closer glance, I could tell it was giant spider-like creature. First of all, its composition was not flesh and blood unlike all the other creatures. This one looked skeletal. Its body looked like it was completely made out of bones. It looked like it was made from a collage of human bones. Its legs were huge with a sharp tip at the end.
It raised one of its front legs to try to pierce us. We managed to roll out the way just in time. The creature let out a bizarre cry. It sound like loud, squeaky gears or like someone trying to start an old car. Ivers and I pulled out our pistols and released rounds into the creature. The creatures body composition must have been steel solid because our bullets bounced off the creature.
I noticed the creature had a mysterious fluid leaking from its mouth. As the fluid hit the ground, it sizzled and burned the leaves under it. Not just that, I discovered this creature was most definitely blind. When it threw me to the side, it went after Ivers. I didn’t move or make a sound. It didn’t come after me. I noticed a disgusting sack organ on its rear. This was most likely how it shot its web. I picked up my pistol and shot the creature in its sack. The creature shrieked in pain. It turned towards me and charged in my general direction. It wasn’t able to pinpoint exactly where I was standing.
Ivers shot at it again. The creature turned and pierced one of its spear-like legs through Iver’s left shin. I shot as Ivers screamed in pain. I ran over to Ivers and put my hand over his mouth. I whispered in Ivers’ ear.
“Don’t move. Don’t make a sound.”
The creature used its legs, trying to feel around for us. It missed touching us by mere inches. Its acidic saliva landed on my shoulder. I wanted to scream in pain, but I knew it would be the death of me if I did. After a few more seconds of searching, the creature turned and retreated into the woods.
After I was sure it was gone, I dragged Ivers back to the car. We needed to get the hell out of there as quickly as possibly. I drove us to the hospital. I was giving a strong antibiotic for my shoulder. As for Ivers, he is bedridden for a while. He’s asked of me to be the sheriff in charge while he’s out.
Nothing unusual has happened. Well, there was one thing. A few days ago, I saw these black cars on the outer limits of town. There were these two men in black suits looking over the woods and taking photos. I asked the men what they were doing. They just told me they were “doing business” and to “move along”. I already have too many questions. I don’t need more.
Well, that’s where I’ll end it. As usual, I’ll report back when I have more. This is Officer Mason signing off, and I had a dream that there’s a never ending storm coming. I don’t know what’s happening.
