The sun shines above the meadow of blue flowers. He is leaning against the rock where She sits. The children play near the river.
"They are cute at that age. Shame how the older versions are selfish and stupid." He says.
"Not all of them are bad." She moves her hands braiding the stems.
He scoffs. "You have been using that excuse for a few hundred years. And so far, the good ones seem to be the exception, not the rule."
She looks at him and smiles, not answering to the snarky remark. “The color suits you.” She drops the flower crown at his head. And all turns to black.
But he can still hear voices. “Yeah, it suits your image. The ‘solve everyone’s problems’ part. Not the ‘ignore danger and be suicidal’ one.” It belongs to a young woman of thin brown eyes. Wavy black hair around pink round cheeks moves forth and back with her hurried steps. She is not very tall, five feet at most, and has a slender body.
“I already apologized. It wasn’t my intention to put you at risk, but I was irresponsible. I’m truly sorry.” Replies the owner of shoulders that are carrying him.
She waves a hand dismissively and turns her face meeting the dragon’s gaze. Her expression is surprised as she halts. “Sol… He’s awake.”
“Oh!” The summoner stops and lowers the child to the ground. The moment his foot touch the ground he straightens his black robe, getting rid of the road’s dust. He looks not older than ten. Dark skin, shaved head and a serene expression.
The two humans stand side by side watching the creature. The rogue seems worried; arms crossed over her chest and a frown. The cleric has an expectant face. He appears to be twenty something, but his childlike smile and green eyes that almost shine could fool anyone into thinking he’s a kid. A 5.5 feet tall one, with long black hair tied to a pony tail and a pale complexion. “Hi.” He says.
“Hello.” Greets back the dragon.
“I’m Solanus. This is Kai.” He points at themselves when pronouncing the words.
The child ponders for a second. “You can call me Omega.” And mimics the gesture.
Kai raises a brow. “That’s a peculiar name…”
Omega tilts his head. “Is that so? It’s more of a title.”
Solanus holds out a hand. “Uhn… If I may ask, what were you doing back there, at the sewers? Are you a guardian or something?”
“Sewers?” The dragon hisses. “You humans have really no respect… That place used to be my shrine.”
“So… you a god?” The rogue’s voice is shaky.
“Half of one.” His is unaltered.
“Oh.” She places a nervous hand over her mouth. “The compassionate and good half?”
“Wait.” Solanus interrupts. “Are you saying you are half of the goddess Gaia?”
A satisfied grin on the lips of the dragon. “Yes, that is correct. I am the west protector of the night.”
The summoner is fidget and gulps. “Then, does that mean the Empire attacking has started the end of the world?”
