Day 40

Dear Library,

I saw a dead dog today. Considered eating him as he didn't seem to be as frozen as everything else. Decided that I haven't stooped so low yet. 

I am also currently high on painkillers. At least I think I'm high. I've never actually experienced being high on anything so I wouldn't know. Either way, my leg doesn't hurt now, which is great. 

So I've been raiding the town these past few days. Turns out it's a big town, still haven't gone through everything. I've found myself a good temporary base, even managed to make a campfire. I made it inside the base, so I almost choked to death on smoke. Didn't though, as you can see. I considered using you as fuel for the fire, but I think we've become too good friends for me to do that. 

I could swear I heard some noises while I was raiding one of the larger buildings, but I assume those were just some rats or some other dumb vermin that managed to survive. While I'd be happy if it were another human, I'd also be worried that they'd try to kill me. It has and always will be a dog eat dog kind of world. 

I had to open a window in my base to let the smoke out, but that also means that the cold air is coming in so it is a sort of lose-lose situation. I'll try to be more careful next time. I'm just hoping the smoke doesn't attract any wolves or even bears to my area. That would just be an unneeded problem. 

For now, I'm pretty well off on food, clothes and most importantly, painkillers. Talk to you whenever.
