A few days later...
I left work at 10:03PM today. I've been working there over a month and a few days... I guess I can say I like it, so far.
The streets are so silent, I can almost hear the moon talking to me. I can see so many stars, it almost looks like the sky is filled with diamonds. As I cross a bridge, with a river underneath it, I hear the loud croaking of the frogs. I also see the figure of a black cat, sitting on a rock by the river, staring at me as I make my way through.
I reached a 4 floors building. There is a girl on the first floor's window,. It was so close to me, that if I jumped as she reached her arms down, I would have been able to reach her hands. She is gazing at the sky, humming a song that I immediately recognized. Once I realize where I was, I instinctively looked up, and I let out a gasp. The girl looked down to me, and I called her name.
" BEATRICE!? " I yell as I walk back. I see her eyes wide open, reflecting the moon light in the darkness of the night. She seemed shocked when she looked back at me, then she got inside, and I waited as she was rumbling around her room, then she came back out with a pair of glasses on her face. She opens her window, wider.
" Adam!!?? It's really you!! " she says with a saddened smile. " Oh my God... What are you doing here? ".
" I'm coming back from work! " I say, as I pat on my blue/grey shoulder bag. " I work at the pizza house on the other side of the bridge... " I tell her. " How have you been? It's been so long since I last saw you... "
" Oh, y-yea! I've been doing great! It's finally holidays, oof! " she laughs, nervously.
" I'm glad to hear that! I still have school, tho! "
" No way!!! " she chuckles.
She started talking about what's been going on with her life, and what she's been planning for the sake of her future. She has told me the names of all the colleges she wanted to go, wondering if it was worth it, or not. As she speaks, I lose myself somewhere in the sound of her voice, thinking about the times we used to hang out together. I started laughing.
" What? Wha- what is it? Do- do I have something on my face? " she asks right away as she covers herself with her hands, and steps away from the window.
" No! No, that's not it! It's just that...you haven't changed at all! " I tell her as she uncovers her face.
" Oh... " she replies back.
" I mean, I haven't seen you in ages! And I've always been wondering if you were okay. And here you are! " I say as I make a long pause, as if I'd expect her to talk.
" Y-yea... nice. " she says as she held her arm together. " I- I've been missing... you. T-too... " she laughs, nervously. " Am I different? D-do I look different to you? " she says as she leans against the window again.
" Well, not much, I mean... yea. A little bit. "
" What do you mean a little bit!? "
" Uh... you're still beautiful... yea, you're as beautiful as I imagined you'd be... you still have that same amazing smile of yours... you've always been super cool... " I say as I rub the back of my head.
We stood in silence for a little while. I was staring at my shoes, avoiding to look at her... she started laughing. This time, she didn't look sad at all. She let her voice all out. "You're still the same silly guy... you've always been so kind... I am surprised you haven't changed too. You look just the same... I'm happy. " she says, with a big smile on her face.
" Heh... thanks. " I tell her. " ...Well, I have to get going now... but, I'll see you some other time, alright? " I say.
" Y-yea!! I'll be here, waiting. " she nods.
" Do you like pizza? I'm gonna bring you some, next time. What kind of pizza do you like? "
" You'll have to find out by yourself!! " she smiles.
I walked away as I waved at her. She stood on her window until I vanish in the distance, then she got inside.
