I woke up on the ground, and my feet were under the bed Ricardo slept on. I lifted my head, trying to remember what happened last night, and how did I end up there. The bed was empty, and as I stood up from the ground, I saw Petter sleeping on a sleeping bag on the other side of the bed. I yawned and stretched my arms in the air as I walked across the room, towards the windows. The Sun was up, shinning bright in the blue and cloudless sky, illuminating the entire room. I stared outside the window, and all I could see were the biggest oak trees I've ever seen in my life, slowly dancing in the wind. I stood there for a few seconds, as I gazed at the outside, until I heard a little scream and laughter from below. I looked down and I saw that most of my friends were already up. Some of them were taking out their belongings from the bus as the others followed a chubby man, deeper in the woods.
I stepped away from the window and went looking for my backpack to get some clothes and go to the bathroom. I feel like I've been walking on a room full of Legos, because there are snacks all over the floor, and it is inevitable not to step on them.
" I really hate Legos... " I say to myself, sighing. As I reached for my backpack, I stay front to front with one of those wardrobes with a full body mirror, and I notice that my face was full of drawings... very inappropriate drawing. " WHAT THE!! " I yell to the mirror. Petter wakes up, yelling in fright, then looks around and sees me. I turn to him and he starts laughing.
" Oh man... I'm so sorry about that. " he said, laughing as he took the palm of his hand to his face. " I didn't wanna do it, but I couldn't resist. Almost everyone did it! " he said.
" You assholes... " I replied as I turned back to take my clothes out. Most of them were Winter clothes... I guess my mom checked for what I was taking to wear, and ended up changing most of the Summer clothes to Winter clothes. Thanks mom, you have a pretty warm heart.
Some time later...
After taking a long bath, I went downstairs to eat my breakfast and left the building. I saw one of my teachers next to the bus, talking to a tall man on a blue shirt and grey pants. He reminds me of that man from the movie ' The Wolf of Wallstreet' ... ugh... what a nasty man... don't ever watch that movie. I passed by them and headed to the other side of the bus to take my things out. I didn't want to interrupt their sweet-chat to ask them where I was supposed to go, so I took the path which I assumed to be the right one , and hopefully meet the others.
As I walked deeper in the woods, I started getting tired of caring all my bags, and eventually, I got lost. I dropped my belongings, near to a tree, and took out a little camera from my pocket, then started taking pictures around the place. After only a few shots, my batteries died, so I spent 20 minutes of my precious life looking around for insects, until someone showed up.
" What... are you... doing? " asked a voice behind me. I was on my knees, looking at ants. I looked back at her, my eyes wide open. I didn't have an answer for her, and she started laughing. " You look like a kid playing with dirt! Did you lose anything in there? " she said as she pointed to a big pile of leaves.
" Ah, n-no! I was just... checking on something..." I said as I stood up from the ground.
" We've been, like... watching you for half an hour now. " she said.
" Wh-what?! Really?? " I look at her in surprise. " Ha-how!? Where?!!! " I asked her, probably looking like a mad scientist who had just been found in a deserted island after 50 long years... she just kept laughing.
" Dude, we've been right behind you! I don't know what you've been doing, but we've been right there the whole time. " she pointed at the direction where the others were, I saw a few tents, and Ricardo waving at us. I waved back as I gazed at him in surprise and confused.
" Wow... " I said. " I really didn't notice you guys over there... "
" Were you lost or something? " she asked as she bit her fingernails. I couldn't help but laugh uncomfortably. " You know there are signs all over the place, right? " she said, raising her arms. " You really didn't notice that too? " she pointed at a wooden sign attached to a tree.
" Oh... you... man, I'm blind. " I stared at the wooden sign as she laughed even more. She then headed to the tree where I abandoned my belongings, a few feet away from us.
" Come on. " she said as she crouched to grab one of my bags, and then put it on her backs. " Let's take this next to the others! "
" Wa-wait! That's too heavy for you!! " I told her as she forced herself to walk back at me. I rushed to help her.
" It's n-not! " she said as she crouched, then she let go off my bag.
" What are you doing? You're gonna hurt yourself... " I grabbed her hands to help her to get up on her feet again. She was disappointed at herself.
" S-sorry... I just wanted to help. " she said, holding one of her arms. I remained in silence, then reached to one of my pockets.
" Here. You can take this. " I took out my camera, the same one whose batteries had died a few minutes ago. She looked astonished, but her happiness didn't last long because she noticed it was out of batteries.
" It's a Rollei!! I never had the chance to use one!! These are super cheap! And they're waterproof!!! " she said. " But the batteries are dead... "
" I have a few more in here, somewhere. " I told her, holding tight to my bags as we started heading to the spot where everyone was at.
" Will you show me how it works? " she asked.
" Sure... " I said while we kept walking. She played around with the camera on her hands, turning it upside down, checking for all sorts of details from left to right, from top to bottom, and then she spoke again.
" Uh... I don't remember your name... You're Adrian, right? " she said, holding her breath, staring at me.
" Adam... " I said.
" Oh... sorry. "
" And I guess you're... Annie? " I asked her as she nodded, smiling. She was glad I knew her name.
" Yea! You remember! " she said as she started hopping around. " Is it okay if we're friends? " she asked. I nodded at her as we finally reached the others. I dropped all my things next to Ricardo's, who was helping Luke with his tent at the moment. She let out a sigh of relief, and I took out some batteries so she could finally turn on the camera. A few moments later, Ricardo came back, and we started mounting his tent until lunch time.
