Fourth period. Digital Media class wasn't the greatest, but it was an easy A that's for sure. The only A I have right now with my GPA of a 2.5. I had this class with Janet and Alice. Janet sat next to me, struggling to fix her video as Alice sat alone in the very far back.
"Uhh..Janet. Why are their voices so high pitched?" I asked.
"Shut up Henry. I have no idea what I'm doing." She said frustrated. I told her to scoot over, so I can fix her video. It only took me a minute, but she looked at me as some sort of god. As we continued our video editing, the teacher had to leave real quick for some meeting. This gave Alice the chance to come over and sit next to me. Putting me between her and Janet. It was super awkward, when all they did was just talk to each other for five minutes.
I enjoyed being friends with Alice, but only because I used to have an old crush on her last year. I even took all the courage I had and asked her to the Winter Formal. She said no. Alice brushed it off after that and we kept being not-awkward friends. I, however, died inside. I don't have the same feelings for her anymore, but there's something about her that I will always remember. I'm glad Janet met her. She's a nice friend to have around. Someone I can talk to now.
I tried my best to ignore them by putting headphones in, so that I can pay attention to doing my work than the two talk about bands. I enjoy the same music they do, but I need to keep this class an A. Then the two stopped talking. They both looked at me with weird, smiling faces. I glance at the two, back and forth. Alice takes off the headphones and I already don't like where this was going.
"So..Henry," Alice said, "How would you like to go to Denny's with Janet and I for a little special outing. Janet pulled me towards her way.
"Yeah. It'll be fun, but don't bring Leo."
I don't get any of this and they're not explaining anything. It was really sketchy, but my dumb ass agreed to it anyways. Now I wished what I knew they were talking about. The teacher came back and Alice went back to her seat. I kept asking Janet about it, but she just told me to wait until Saturday night to find out.
After a days end of hard work and hangout with friends. It was the end of the school day. Since it was Friday, it's officially one week 'till school is over. For some reason Alice gave me Dylan's number because he was also coming. She said it was for a class thing, but I think it's much more than that. As I walk off of campus saying bye to Leo, I remember something. I fucking walked to school. I prayed that Janet didn't leave yet.
Quickly, she caught my eye and I ran to her car. Banging on the window, I scared the shit out of her because she screamed, "Jesus fucking Christ, Henry. Don't do that!!!"
"I am so sorry, but I really need that ride. Please. Please. Please."
"Oh...right. Get in. We got lots to talk about anyways." I didn't care what she meant and jumped right in. As we left the campus, she slipped in a c.d of 16B8 and we jammed our way to my house. Carpool Karaoke-ing each song that came on. Since traffic was so bad towards my house, that we finished the whole album once we crossed the overpass. It was nuts.
This gave Janet time to explain the details of the Denny's trip tomorrow. She said that Alice wanted to hangout with Dylan because she likes him. This hurt me a bit for some reason, but I didn't say anything. I'm not surprised Alice liked him. He was on the good-looking side. Janet then told me that she wants us there to make it seem like a regular hangout between us. I still don't get why Leo can't be with us though.
She got mad at me for bringing him up again, "Look..Henry. I would love it for Leo to come, but Alice isn't close with Leo than she is with you. She entrusts you and I to help her out. Got it?"
"Yeah...got it. Completely understandable. Wait..." Something huge hit me in the head, "Did you say Dylan?"
"Pretty sure. The guy's in my science class. What about him?" We were driving and got closer to my house. She was waiting for an answer.
"She can't...go out with Dylan, Janet. He's gay." I didn't look at her when I said it. I stared at my untied shoes.
Janet stopped the car immediately. Luckily there were no cars behind us or this would have been a car crash. She turned towards me and yelled, "HE'S WHAT?!"
