I was on a tour at the local university, listening to the different university career options offered and the study plans for the first semesters. I had seen in a couple of pamphlets that teachers had put on the school boards about these routes to think about the university career we would take for our future, and I decided to take one of these trips with my two closest friends, Alan and Axel.
-Alex, looks at this -Axel was more serious and sincere to see the facilities, while Alan was distracted trying to flirt with the girls on the course, without success-. This chemistry lab is far more sophisticated than our school.
-I know, but I'm not sure I have much interest in a career as a chemist either, and I'm sure that I lack the resistance to blood to be a doctor.
-What you do not have for a doctor is the general average. But leaving that aside, you should take it into account. And look who decides to return.
Axel had returned with the two of us again, and with the same face of frustration at not being able to get a date with any of the girls he was talking to.
-Instead of looking for a girlfriend, you should also look for a career option for your abilities –Axel certainly spoke harshly with Alan, but I knew it was to try to help him-. Here, this pamphlet has listed races along with the minimum averages required.
Alan could be quite deconcentrated when there were women nearby, but all three of us knew that with a high average like his, he could have access to practically any career he wanted; however, we also knew that even among the other students in our group there was a bet on whether Alan would finish high school, or whether he would make a girl pregnant and end up leaving school before graduation. Axel and I knew that despite Alan's intelligence, he had too much interest in looking like the great guy who attracted women like a playboy in movies, and that was what made us worry about his future.
I saw the usual fight between Axel and Alan about the personality of Alan, and the reality to which he had to stick to have a better future, when I came to mind everything that happened the previous month with Mr. Andres and the notebook of thoughts . Reflecting a bit, it was precisely because of the thought of "The Way" that I had decided to enroll in this journey. Since then, I visited him more often in the park after classes and talked to him about
-If it bothers you my "personality" I do not understand why I was dragged to this place. I could be with Ralf and the others in the club.
-If you want so much to be at all hours, I do not understand why you still attend school.
-Because Ralf's offer required me to complete high school. After that, you can have fun as much as you want at school with your books while I will enjoy parties every day.
The more Alan spoke of that man, Ralf, the more I believed that the rumors about him were real. Rumors about dirty business for those who used their club. When Alan reached the age of majority, he had begun to frequent that place to look for easy women with whom he spent a single night and did not know about them again. That same was the reason why our schoolmates had made that bet, and also the reason why Axel and I insisted that Alan should resume the seriousness in his studies.
But it seemed to me that something else was happening in that place, and that was the reason why we had to get Alan away from Ralf's group before he went through the point of no return. But at times like this, when Alan just threw Axel and me a look of anger and disdain before leaving, I wondered if I still had to help him, since our friendship seemed to get weaker and weaker each time we had a discussion like that. And unfortunately, he knew exactly where Alan was going at that moment: Ralf's club.
