It's true, I've always been good with animals. Nine years ago, an old man told me I have a gift. I don't fully remember who he was. Could've been a relative in some way I didn't understand, or just a random stranger. Either way, I wasn't close to him at all. I didn't know what he was refering to with the "gift" I had, so I asked him about it. "See how close animals get to you? (Especially the baby bird behind you)" that's what he replied. A baby crow, with its bright blue eyes kept walking closer and closer to me. As the conversation with the old man went on, even a bunny and a cat sat next to me. They all seemed to love me and were focused on only me. "It's because of your Animal Within" the man continued. I still had no idea what he was talking about back then. He explained to me "An animal within is something like a spirit animal. The only difference however, is that animals within affects the things around you. For example, you are a kind, good hearted baby dragon. You attract animals and make them feel safe. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that bird stays with you for the rest of your life." I smiled as I looked at the bird. Buddy, that's what I called him. Even though he was a wild crow, I still gave him a name. People sometimes even thought he was actually my pet. I guess that in a way, they were right about that.
The old man looked at me to make sure I understood what he was telling me, as he added "Every animal within is different, each with their own abilities. Most people don't even have animals within. Therefore you must keep this a secret from everyone, including your best friend. Do you promise me that?" I hesitate, "I can't even tell Devlin? I always tell him everything!" Carefully the man adds, "Not even Devlin. I'm sorry my little girl, you would only put his life in danger if you told him. Can you promise me not to tell anyone?" I am shocked by those words, ofcourse I didn't want to put Devlin's life in danger. I nod "Yes, I promise..."
