"Alright, we can't wait anymore." Chris said, in a stern voice. "There are people taking their own lives now. We need to investigate these crimes, find a link between them, and stop the next before it happens." he commanded. Chadwick and Nathan listened closely, alongside four other officers in the room. "Everybody in this room is going to receive a partner to work on this mess. If we're going to stop this soon, we're going to need to work together." he spoke. Chris glanced around the room, looking at the different officers surrounding him. "Alright. Chadwick, you're with Alex. Emily, with Samuel. Finally, Nathan. You're with Gavin. He's new to this, so you've gotta set a good example." Chris explained. The different pairs organized around the room, before Chris spoke up one last time. "Alright, folks. We have a week...Let's make the best of it." he instructed, before walking out of the room.
Gavin strolled over to Nathan, slowly bobbing his head. "Alright. You and me, eh? Hopefully you won't go too hard on me. Well, I mean, I can handle it, so..." he said, obnoxiously. Nathan glared at Gavin, causing him to stop smiling. "Alright, here's the deal. You stay behind, you listen to me, and you don't get in the way. I can't have you ruining this for us." he said, clearly annoyed.
"Fine, fine, back off, man. I won't do anything, and I assure you...Everything will be fine." he replied. Nathan nodded his head, before walking off. Before he left the room he yelled back to Gavin. "Oh, that's right. Tomorrow, ten o'clock. My desk." he said, casually exiting the room. Gavin glared at the door as it closed.
Nathan left the building, walking down the stairs leading to the parking lot. He reached the door of his car, reaching for the handle. When he opened the door, he fell against the roof of his car. His mind became clouded and the headache from the first accident came back into feeling. His vision of the man came back. The person locked behind the man's arm was a woman, and the vision was much clearer this time. They were on a rooftop, and Nathan was bleeding from a wound in his abdomen. There were two people lying on the floor beside Nathan, not moving at all. The man spoke words but they were inaudible. The gun fired.
Nathan slung his head back as somebody beside him tried to stable his movement. "Nate! Nate, you okay?" asked Chris, standing beside him. Nathan looked around, before locking eyes with a worried Chris. "Yeah, yeah, I'm...I'm fine, thanks." he responded, his words slurring together. Chris pressured more on Nathan. "Nathan, you don't seem fine. It might be better for you to stay-" Chris was interrupted by Nathan, in a strange outburst. "I'm FINE. I'll see you tomorrow." he said, sitting down in his car and slamming the door. He turned on the engine as Chris backed away, taking his phone from his side. Nathan pulled out of the parking space, backing up, before driving away.
Chris dialed Gavin's number on his phone, waiting for him to pick up. Gavin's voicemail picked up instead. "Hey, sorry, but...If you're trying to reach me, I'm not available right now. Might want to call back later, or leave a message after the beep. Eh...Beep." it played. Chris groaned, choosing to leave a message. "Gavin, Nathan's acting kind of strange. When you're with him keep an eye on him. 'Found him collapsed against the roof of his car in the parking lot and he acted out against me when I tried to help. Thanks." he spoke for the recording. Chris turned his phone off and slipped it back into its case. He then walked to his car, pulling his car keys out to unlock it. He opened the door, getting it and swinging the door shut again. He turned the car on, backing out of the parking space and driving away from the department.
